My first festival(s)!

Last weekend, I went to a festival for the first time ever at the ripe age of 23! The actual first one didn't feel like a traditional festival maybe? They still had some nice names, but I mainly went for one group that rarely plays anywhere else. I had a really great time though! 

But then, the Lokerse Feesten happened. That one really did feel like a real festival, and I felt it in my back as well (ouch). Apparently, I'm not made for standing in a crowd for hours on end, I was genuinely suffering lmao, but it was totally worth it after all with all the cool bands we got to see.

First up was Bizkit Park. A Nu-Metal tribute band that really lives up to it's name. They brought banger after banger and had the whole crowd convinced. Even though the vocals may lack sometimes, their energy makes up for it, no doubt about it.

After that I saw Enter Shikari, a first for me! I'd heard of them before, but I never really got interested enough to give it a chance to be honest. Oh boy did I regret that! They were an absolute pleasure to see live, the songs as well as the entire group's stage presence. You can really tell they're pretty much just friends having a good time on stage, but with an amazing production behind them. Being a stage tech nerd, I was especially wowed by their ledscreen and visual set-up. 

Basically, they were so good that I immediately bought tickets to see them again in October. I'm listening to their albums in order as we speak.

And then, the true showstopper of the night, Electric Callboy. Most bands end their set with fireworks, they started with a few hundred euros of them. It's genuinely amazing how big they've gotten now. In any case, these guys know how to bring a show music and production wise. Breaking up the crazy, energetic set with acoustic campfire renditions of the Backstreet Boys and Linkin Park while sitting around a literal campfire on stage, multiple outfit changes and a shit ton of pyro kept the people (read me) hooked and wanting more.

So yeah, a pretty succesful first festival weekend I think! Now that that's out of my system, I think I'll crawl back in bed for a few weeks to recover.
