(I don't) Know when to fold 'em

So when this arrived on Hacker News, I thought why not register an account. Either it's gone in a week like many other posts there, or I'll be the proud owner of a three-letter user name/low user id in a couple of years like on twitter…

I never was that much into MySpace, and only Tom was my friend, as far as I can remember. But I remember that it was the home of a lot of bands much more awful than DragonForce. Which brought back memories when we were playing Shadowrun in the local youth center, right in the room where they kept the demo tapes they all got. Most of which were awful.

So why not use this space for what its inspiration was made for, and not be ashamed of one's lack of skills, ear training or general taste? If this gets popular enough for me to get ten or more friends, I'll start my own road to stardom by forming a band.

What do I need to start my very own band? Let's break it down:

So I'll give myself a week for the genre & name, and then maybe month to learn some instrument. Can't be that hard…

After that I'll have to find a place to put the sweet soundcloud money. Maybe something related to the genre. Which can range anywhere from tattoos to a yacht to a powdered wig.
