I have no followers here and tbh id quite like to keep it that way, I'm worried ill say too much or get too personal, its very comforting to me knowing that likely nobody will see this. recently I lost a lot of friends, nobody did anything wrong and nobody was upset at each other, we all just drifted. the only person I talk to is the boy I think I love, and I honestly don't know what I would do if I scared him away. so I don't have anyone to tell about my day, or the things I am excited about, it gets very lonely so I decided to say it all here :)
I want to talk about mice today, they are one of my special interests and I don't really know anyone who is interested in them in real life so I rarely get to talk about it,,
at the moment I have one male mouse, his name is Soren lorenson and he is the sweetest boy you will ever meet, he is a brownish grey colour but he has little tiny patches of black and a white tummy that looks like an apron. here are some pictures of him :)
he lives on his own at the moment because he isn't neutered and male mice that aren't neutered unfortunately have to be kept alone because they are very territorial around other males and will reproduce VERY quickly if you keep them with girls. he is currently living in a 1500 square inch diy enclosure that my dad helped me to make, it is made of wood but it has been waterproofed with pet safe varnish to stop him from weeing on it and making it all stinky lol. there are two levels in his house and its very very big, it's important to give mice lots of space however they can get lonely or scared if they feel too exposed because they are prey animals. I worry that he gets lonely, he isn't a huge fan of being held so I try to interact with him by just letting him walk around wherever he wants while I watch, but when I'm busy with school and stuff I worry that he gets sad :(my only option if I wanted to get him some friends was to get him neutered, it is quite hard to find vets that will work with mice since they are so small and can be quite risky to operate on. I emailed a few vets and a lot of them didn't even reply for some reason but I eventually got him an appointment for a few weeks from now. they told me it will cost £60 but that seems quite cheap so I suspect there will be other costs when we get there.
I'm very worried about the operation, its safe but the idea of him being in pain afterwards breaks my heart, I'm going to set up a smaller enclosure for when he's healing because I don't want him to move around too much and hurt himself.
once he's neutered and healed i'll be able to start looking into getting some female mice to introduce him to! my enclosure is big enough for a very large group however I only plan on having about 3 or 4 mice in total, its not good to have 2 since if one dies the other one will end up alone. I'm a bit worried that they might not get along because I've never introduced mice to each other before, but I have another mouse house that the new ones can live in if they really don't like each other :)
I plan on either rescuing the new mice or getting them from a mousery near where I live. I don't want to get them from a hobby breeder because I've heard they sometimes don't have the best temperament.
so yeah, that was my post about mice! I could go on forever but I suck at typing and I'm tired lol <3
