lost my job!!! :3

SO, a couple weeks ago on June 24th, I officially quit my job and gave my manager a two week notice. I had already been thinking about it, but I did it. last week i had a talk with my manager about me quitting and what i had gathered from it was that i was basically backup and wasnt going to be on the schedule, right?
so last night, she put the schedule out and because i was under the impression that i was only backup, i went to bed early and didnt get the notif. this morning, i wake up around ~9:45AM. no big deal?? YES BIG DEAL. i check the notif. i was on for 10AM. i call my manager, she doesnt pick up. i text her telling her i have plans (because im moving) and cant come in. all good, right? WRONG.
30 minutes after i text her, she calls, tells me i didnt follow protocol of calling the resturant, and tells me shes taking me off the schedule and i dont have to come back (yay!)

so, now, i can talk about WHY i left, because trust me. it was for a reason. i wont say where it is, or who my manager is, buuut if youre in WA then i will just say, it is a mexican fast food place, and we have ~15 locations across washington. so, do with that what you will <3

so heres some stories from me working there, because im 99% sure im allowed to talk about these things and im not under some kind of NDA.

so first lets talk her rules!! and ones i dont agree with. so, like i said, its a fast food place, theres cashiers near the front of the store, and cooks in the back. now, what would YOU do if the cook sends up an order wrong and the manager isnt there? tell the cook whats wrong so they can fix it, RIGHT??? so it can get out faster, RIGHT????? most likely.
WELL, youd be breaking one of her biggest rules. cashiers and cooks are NOT allowed to talk to eachother in ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. anything that needs to be told to the cooks, goes through the manager. well, SUPPSOED TO. no one follows that rule. in fact, most time the cooks talk to the cashiers first. it is an incredibly stupid rule, because what if we need to replace sanitizing water soon? what if we need something replaced ASAP because a customer just ordered it?? WHAT IF THEY MESS UPPP????
whats funny is that my manager has barely any idea that we dont follow this rule, because when she is there, we follow it perfectly. cashiers and cooks barely even LOOK at each other during this. and because cashiers tell the cooks when they mess something up, shes under the impression the kitchen never messes up, because she doesnt hear of it.

now, if that isnt weird enough, lets talk her scheduling. THIS is the big thing that got me to leave. she gives us one week of our schedule at a time, and expects us to put in requests for time off for days we arent available. usual, right?
well, during my orientation-- no wait, it was my INTERVIEW-- i told her "im not available on this day during these times because i have THERAPY." she told me that was fine and she wouldnt put me down for that day let alone those times because of it. all is right in the world.
soon enough though into summer, i start getting scheduled for SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF MY THERAPY. so, for 3 weeks out a month, i dont go to therapy. and the week after, my therapist was out. so, there was an ENTIRE MONTH of therapy lost because of her scheduling. how lovely.
not to mention, she will randomly change peoples schedules in the middle of the night. like one of my coworkers, they were sick, had been sick, and i was working an afternoon shift. it was prob 2-3pm when she called the resturant and let me know "hey i cant come in im still sick, and she changed my schedule at like 2am." so i was like dmn okay. i filled out an abcense thing for her and moved on. my manager comes in, PSSSED OFF. i let her know and shes like "yeah i know. she shouldve called in before her shift." (mind you, there was an hour and a half gap between her shift and the call) and apologized on her behalf. another one of my managers rules is to call 3 hours before your shift starts if you cant come in.
this would be fine if it was a one-time deal, but it wasnt. multiple of my coworkers, including me, have had their schedule change in the middle of the night with zero notice other than the apps notification. not really helpful when youre asleep though, huh?

and finally, the story that had annoyed me beyond belief. so, one day, i was working an opening shift. one of my coworkers had come in, so i took my 10 then. and an hour before they had to leave, i took my 30. mind you, it was INCREDIBLY slow when i took my 30. right after i get on break, it is a HORRID rush. like, a TSUNAMI KINDA RUSH. so i feel guilty, but i already started my break and wasnt about to waste my only time to eat in like 8 hours. so when i get back, i look at the orders, about 8 on the screen maybe.
now, my manager had this rule about the food. there was a small table when you stood facing the kitchen, the food on that table needs to correspond to the next order. and the long table to your right when facing the kitchen was for ALLL the other food. i was looking at the orders, had been there maybe a minute or two, not even LOOKING AT THE TABLES. my manager comes by and proceeds to LECTURE ME on how IM not following protocols and I shouldve been here for the rush.

...

WAS I SUPPOSED TO PREDICT IT?????
i had not been working long enough to know EXACTLY when the rushes are. it was one of my FIRST opening shifts. now, after a whole WEEK of those, i knew. but again, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW??? AND. i had barely been there. howver the food was left, WASNT ME??!! she then brings my coworker over and DURING THE RUSH retrains us on her protocols regarding orders and food and all that. during the rush.

theres defenitely more stories i have, but those are the big ones that made me want to quit terribly. and just generally, for a place that was paying minimum wage (~$17/hr) and basically only had teens on for cashiers, the expectiations were way higher compared to my friends jobs that paid in the 20s/hr with way less harsh expectations. this is also not to send hate or slander the company/my managers names. i dont want to do that, as my manager is really nice when she wants to be and is just very logic focused with her job. but, i want to complain about it, because i want to, and i can. again, NOT TO SLANDER ANYONE. im just putting it out there because oh my goodness >n<
