Recently, I've decided to delete my main social media accounts, like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, things like that. I've found that it has made things way more peaceful for me. I did this because I realized that the mindless scrolling has taken a significant amount of time out of my day, and has caused me to be less social in the real world, from being online 24/7. Since social media has become thing, I believe that many of us have lost the ability to go up to people, start real, authentic conversations that aren't behind a screen. Especially after COVID, mostly everyone is always inside. Many also lack common social skills, or aren't able to give others the proper attentions when they're talking. Hangouts aren't the same either. Instead of actually talking to your friends, or whoever your with, both usually spend more time on their phone than actually engaging with the other person. It has also slightly damaged/affected peoples perspectives on certain things such as relationships or friendships. I'm sure many of you have heard the term that, "social media ruined romance", which is partially true in my opinion. Although it does have many advantages, and has helped boost many opportunities and careers, I think that we should practice getting off of those apps sometimes, actually appreciating the world around us. We will find that there is so much more than what is online.
