THE FOREST'S HARMONY

THE FOREST'S HARMONY

I wish we could run away

To the forest

Where flora and fauna live in harmony

Where even a small crow's death is mourned

& a big bear's new life is celebrated

Where the birds sing in tune with the trees

And the foxes and wolves hunt in harmony

Where the deer scatter from their predators so perfectly, it seems as if it was rehearsed.

Where the fish in the lake appear to climb into a bear's mouth one at a time

Where the frogs in the bog croak together like an orchestra

Where the children run across the grass and dirt, scuffing their shoes, carefully avoiding crushing the wildlife, for they too are, in some form, wildlife.

And where if you listen closely, the forest sings a tune.

Not for you,

Not for someone else,

For themselves.

Every creature in the forest contributes to the harmony of death and life.

And every time a death is mourned or a life is celebrated, that harmony gets a little louder.
