“Kill a god?” Barack asked, clearly distressed, “How do you suppose I do that? And how does this help me accomplish my goal?” With this remark Ugomu hopped out of his comically large chair and confirmed that, despite sharing all of his physical features with that of a corpse, he was still able to move. He motioned for Barack to follow him as he made his way deep into the shop. A large wooden door stood at the end of the room, and upon it opening itself, it revealed a scarcely lit, spiral staircase of stone, which led down and down as far as the eye could see. They followed it down, hardly exchanging a word for what felt like an eternity, until they finally reached the bottom. At the end of the staircase was a large room, fully fitted out with what appeared to be materials for some kind of ritual. The whole room was covered in runes, and symbols, as well as flasks, and some objects Barack had never seen before. Upon seeing his confusion, Ugomu filled him in on what was about to take place. At the beginning of the universe, Ampstein and all the other gods lived peacefully in their heaven. That, of course, did change. It isn’t known what Ampstein did to deserve his punishment, but it must have been a grave travesty, as he was cast out of heaven, and into their hell. For millennia he suffered in the deepest pits of tartarus, and he felt the divine tortures of hell, but eventually, he learned. He learned how to quell the flames, how to live in this unlivable misery. He became the ruler of that land called hell. He became responsible for the duties that came with it, ferrying the souls, reaping the unworthy. He became the God of Death. But his punishment still didn’t satisfy the other gods' need for revenge. They wanted more. And such, any mortal man who can slay the warrior who's very skin had become armor, forged in the deepest, fiery lakes of hell, is guaranteed the gods favor. To be continued…
