Are you pasty like me? Sick of fake Mexican food like del Taco and taco bell? Well here I've prepared what I've learned to look for and what to avoid to get some good ass authentic Mexican food that will have you drooling. (Note: please feel free to correct me or add to the list. If I have gotten something wrong or said something stupid feel free to call me out on my bs.)
Do's:
Slightly worn down buildings
Food trucks in parking lots
Stand on the side of the road
In a low end part of town
Family ran/ community ran
Not trying to be fancy
Slightly cluttered inside
At least 5 pictures of food in the windows
Ran by an old lady or her kid
You're one of the only white customers
Menu is mostly Spanish
Don'ts:
Chain restaurants
Places that are trying to be fancy
Ran by white people
Not a local business
In a high end part of town
Claims to be authentic (big fat lie)
No one in there speaks Spanish
Most customers are white
Menu is completely English
Bonus points:
Name of restaurant is in Spanish
Doubles as a Mexican grocery store
Doubles as the families house
Staff doesn't speak English/ asks if you speak Spanish
Surrounding businesses are Spanish speaking

Sadly all we got here is those shitty fucking taco places run by the same dudes running the millenial burger joints. Like fym 6 bucks for 3 tacos the size of my life expectancy??
...at least they had actual hot sauce choices. Ghost pepper washed down the rather dull burrito. I could eat anything if it burns nicely.
