living at a really boring place is not for the weak. every time i want to go somewhere it HAS to be an hour away at least. i’ve always wanted to go to a club or volunteer or do something with my time other than be confined at home but EVERYTHING is too far for a drive.Â
fast forward to my first incident with this: we all know the primate sanctuary was a no-go. but then i thought about sports and wondered if i could get away with signing up for derby. WRONG. closest fucking place is exactly ONE HOUR AWAY.
it’s really annoying because i’ve always wanted to get over my fear of skating and i really like roller skates!!! but god forbid i ever want a hobby. either WAY too expensive or my mom will embarrass me and try to say we can DIY everything at home. realistically when i learn to drive i could drive myself to derby but also…it’s a one hour drive…and as much as id love to beg my parents to take me anyway i know why they don’t want to drive an hour to practice.
i wish i liked other sports but i dont — ive wanted to do basketball when i was younger but honestly that was purely from desperation of wanting to get out of my house. oh well

this literally happened to me... wanted 2 do roller derby and the closest group was 4 hours away 3 i would drive that distance but i don't have a flexible enough schedule and it sucks!!!! u should also totally check events at ur local libraries and rec centers if you wanna volunteer and join clubs.. not sure about where you are but i know where i am theres a bunch of pretty cool opportunities!!
NOOO i hope someday you can do derby that's so sad
you've got a good point, i dont commonly go to the library but they might have some stuff im interested in there.

As a quad skater, Roller skating is so fun and I really suggest doing it once you learn to drive!
hmmmm true.. i'll bring it up to my parents once i actually get my license then. ive always been goo goo eyed about roller skates and learning them properly since i tried them out as a kid so it doesnt take much to convince me LOL
