★ DIYs you can do to be more alternative | because unethical fashion sucks and theres no excuse

DIYs are easily accessible and a huge part of alternative fashion. You don't need to know how to sew for a lot of DIYs, and it's easy to upcycle clothes and make your own accessories with items you can/should be able to access. THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO USE UNETHICAL FASHION!!! (LOOKING AT THOSE GETTING SHEIN HAULS..)

If you live in a city, you most likely have a thrift store in the area. Find similar items to what you want. If you know how to sew or hand sew, even better! Although a lot of clothes in thrift stores look like there's «only old people clothes», alter them! If there's no thrift stores in your area, alter old clothes you already have. Want a different colour? Fabric dye.

Altering shirts without sewing is not as difficult as one might think. It can be slightly time consuming, but it's better than supporting unethical labour. I'll list different tutorials on how to customize clothes that involve no sewing.

(simple design vers) cut out back tutorial

(slightly more complicated) cut out ribcage shape back tutorial

halter top tutorial

tied back tube top tutorial

no cut simple tie into halter top tutorial

Got parents that don't approve/not comfortable with cut and slightly more exposed tops? DIY a simple shirt into your favourite band/cool design/whatever you want.

easy diy band tutorial (u can do a simple design too!) If you don't have any special fabric paint the creator of that tutorial says normal acrylic paint mixed with conditioner works too!

Wanting more accessories?

DIY knuckle brass necklace this one does require a few more materials that are still kind of common(?) But maybe not as much

Usually for accessories i like using studs (i pried mine off of a belt I don't wear anymore), but if that's not an option for you, you can literally make your own.

DIY studs tutorial

DIY eyelet headband tutorial

(this one involves some sewing but it can be done by hand) DIY studded cuffs

And there are so many things you can DIY for alt fashion instead of supporting an exploitative industry!! It's better for the environment in the long run and also a lot of fun))
