warriors squirrelstar/ ivypool ramble

Squirrelstar being leader cause Brambleclaws mental state is a real dumb move. It’s just proof that the writers can’t let go of her and Firestars lineage at all and are costing all the other character’s development and screentime as a result which will only make the books more of a drag to read when it’s the same characters again and again.

One because she’s very old and either needs to retire or not have the responsibility of clan leader on her when she should be at the end of her life. What should have happened was that either she and Bramble both stepped down from the leadership positions and appointed younger, clearer minds to head the clan at the end of the last arc, or they should’ve had her die for some reason. I don’t necessarily want her dead but idk how else they would remove her since she can’t necessarily retire yet.

Two, it ruins Brambleclaws character even more. Instead of him dealing with his trauma and being given time to repair his trust with his clan and to die in a badass way (like in a battle against a hostile Tigerstar 2 who wants to take over RC or sum) he gets shoved into the elders den with cats who were warriors prior to his birth and it’s supposed to be ok. When Lionblaze protested this, I was with him.

Third, it’s not like she is the only cat we see who has great leadership qualities and could lead. Ivypool is a prime example who has plenty of experience and respect and also isn’t like 85 in cat years. Or even someone like Cinderheart or Mole would have been fair leaders and given someone who wasn’t a main character for a whole arc some spotlight. The fact that cats from the first two arcs are even still alive is annoying sometimes, let alone some if they leading their clans still.

but I'm contridicting what I said earlier about firestars lineage now that i'm realizing it.

She’s related to Firestar. IMO my other two choices (Molewhisker and Cinderheart) are better examples of having a warrior with excellent qualities and leadership skills who could lead ThunderClan AND not be related to Firestar at the same time.

We have three whole arcs that establish Ivy’s related to Firestar (PoT, OoTS, and TBC) and TBC outright says she’s related to him. When TC complained about Lionblaze’s deputyship and wanted a new leader, one of the cats outright said Ivy should be leader bc she’s related to Firestar.

I would really rather have no leader who’s related to Firestar in the slightest; Molewhisker and Cinderheart fits that criteria perfectly. Low key rooting for Cinder bc she’s way more level-headed than any of the warriors, especially Ivy. I really wish some of Cinder’s rational nature rubbed off on Ivy during her apprenticeship, unfortunately it didn’t.

Ivypool is pretty far from him in terms of kin. She’s the granddaughter of his nephew- not even humans have connections that deep usually

and even though s
he’s really far from him in terms of kin and they weren’t close, this related nature is what the books used to qualify her for the prophecy. Lion and Jay were looking at Dovekit and Ivykit by Sunrise to see which of those two would become the next cat who’s life StarClan ruined (so, a prophecy cat).

I’m saying Ivy should be off the table because people (rightfully) don’t want a Firestar-related character to become leader. Why is there an exception for Ivy? There shouldn’t be if people want a leader who is truly not related to Firestar in the slightest. I was really surprised that TBC reminded the reader and made it very clear that they’re related. I just found it really funny that the cats were complaining about the nepotism and yet someone still nominated her even though they acknowledged she’s related.

I really wish they’d just wipe the slate clean so the next leader can be someone completely different. Choosing her would just be a repetition of a leader who shares blood with Firestar. It’s just so dumb when we have other non-related options.
