right now i'm going into my sophomore year of high school, and i have about two weeks left of my summer vacation. In texas (where i live) they announced a statewide ban on bringing personal devices to school. So that means EVERY classroom across the state has to have those stupid phone pouches.. This makes me so mad because now I wont be able to contact my mom while i'm in class!! this will NOT go well bro she is going to get so mad at me. Whenever i try to explain things like this to her she never cares and always just says do it anyway and asks so much of me. This is all so frustrating, because what if she wants me to update her with my grades and she cant reach me??? I WOULD bring my macbook to school liek i did last year, but they also banned bringing personal computers too. This next year of school is going to be so terrible. I just want to be done with high school already, i'm gonna be going from one shitty year to another shitty year (WHICH WILL PROBABLY BE WORSE!!) ughhhhhh...

I guess i got lucky because the state of Washington hasn't established this law (yet). I do remember when i was studying abroad, however (turkiye) where the phone law was practiced all over the country. It was a little worse than here in the U.S., though, because they would take your phone when you entered the school and they would only give it back when the school day was over, on your way out. It was a horrible system because there was no way to verify which phone was yours so at the end of the day phones would get stolen/ misplaced. I am however glad that it gave me a chance to develop an actual personality instead of being on my phone all the time, and it also forced us to come up with new ways to entertain ourselves. Highschool ain't all that bad if you ignore everybody and focus on yourself. You think doodling on a paper or reading a book instead of being on your phone is cringe? that would be your problem. You worried people will make fun of you if you're cringe? that's THEIR problem. All in all, f*ck the american school system and f*ck all the "cool people" standards. You should enjoy high school in SPITE of how horrible it is. Have fun!!!

No literally its so annoying. I literally bought a computer for the school year and everything but now its illegal?!?! liek those chromebooks barely even run and they always run out before everyone gets one so idek what my school is gonna do abt that. Thankfully my school isn't using the pouches but they are requiring phones stay in backpacks, which people probably aren't gonna listen to which fine idc but when they get caught the school is probably gonna buy the pouches which will be annoying asf. tx is so annoying.
Omg i did too!! i used a macbook air for school all last year and it was amazing i could get stuff done way faster because it could actually load things!! this year i'm bringing my 3ds to school as a mp3 player cuz they also banned all wireless headphones

That's actually so smart I might have to go find my old one fr. My school just let us know we can use computers if we're upperclassmen which idk how they are allowed to do that but i'm def not gonna complain

I honestly wish my middle and high schools did this after seeing how absolutely zombified my former colleagues have become thanks to having their stupid "smart"phones on them all the time.
And if you ever needed to have your parents contacted during class, your teachers or school principal would take care of that. Believe it or not, every classroom and administrative office on a school's campus still have landlines, you know.
actually I agree, I sometimes used my smartphone in school in order just not to look unlike the others also I would prefer just stare in the nowhere and give my eyes a rest.. i dont know what the hell are these people watching in their phones, maybe they text someone, but I have no one to text to

I mean, you don't really have an option and she should be mad at the system, not at you and can't you like tell your mom about grades after school?
Yeah i know like you would think she'd get mad at the system and im sure she is, but i know that this will cause more fights between us and the system in place is just making it worse
