Advice on picking up writing as a hobby?

Hi all! I've recently started considering trying to start writing for fun. 

I usually only try to write seriously for assignments and long movie reviews, but I'd like to start writing more. However, I'm not sure how to start! I've thought of writing an opinion piece or a short story, but I have always found the task too daunting to even know where to begin... 

Does anyone have advice on how to give myself that little push I need to get the words out? Anything would be greatly appreciated.
