minimalism is killing individuality

This isn't about being edgy or different just to stand out, I genuinely think alot of people are starting to lose their sense of self. Everyone's dressing the same, decorating the same, and opening and closing the same 3 apps everyday. I sound like such a hipster rn but I just miss when the world actually had flavor. I get why minimalism happened, people were overwhelmed and the internet got loud. But now everythings "aesthetic" and muted and beige and empty. Everything needs to be "brand safe" now. Take Hot Topic as an example. Even people's rooms look sad: LED lights, plain white walls, maybe a fake plant from Amazon. Thats it? Whatever happened to rooms with posters scattered all over the walls or weird little collections. You used to be able to walk into someones room and instantly know who they were. This isn't me saying everyone should immediately start dressing emo and delete instagram and start listening to niche bands. I'm just saying... have some substance. Your clothes don't have to be outrageous, but they should feel true to yourself. Everyones just playing it safe now to avoid being labeled as cringe. And speaking of being true to yourself, you don't need a "vibe". Not everything needs to be an aesthetic or subculture. You can like mismatched stuff. You can be contradictory. Thats what makes you authentic. Not everything needs to be deep, but it would be nice if people showed up as themselves again.
