A West Virginia Adventure

Yesterday we went to vist my uncle (well great-uncle technically) and went to a couple of cool places.  Here we went to the lookout tower of Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park.

^Our eyes caught sight of a bookstore that we just had to go to:  Buckeye Bend Books.  It was an old schoolhouse and was repurposed into a bookstore maybe 20 years ago?  We were told the original owner had died, they had gotten the place in an auction and were keeping up with the place.  They had so many old books in this one, and it was just such a cool place to be in!  I love bookstores, even more so of ones that are unique.

^This was just one of the rooms.  I found an Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine issue.  I never knew these were a thing in the first place, and just went ahead and got it because I couldn't look it up at the time.  There wasn't really any service anywhere we went, of course.

^When we first arrived, we went to the Greenbrier Grille and Lodge to eat.  I got a hotdog:)  It was along the Greenbrier River, and there were so many geese and ducks!  If we ever go back here to eat, I'd love to get a table outside to watch them.

>We went to the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Museum, but didn't go in for a tour as my sister was starting to feel sick, she's heat sensitive.  We were listening to the volunteer give an introduction of Pearl S. Buck and the history of the house, which was interesting, on the front porch before we left.  I never knew what kinds of books she had written, nor much about her life, so I'd like to look into her more.

We also were going to go to Beartown State Park, but it started raining when we arrived.  We waited for a bit, but it only let up as we were leaving.  We were all wearing flip-flops anyways.

In all, it was a good day!
