Split Level is a world building project following an experimental rock band named Prolix. While it focuses greatly on the joys of escapism, it explores what needs escaped. Split Level is a story about familial abuse and memory repression.

Childhood leaves us grinding our teeth to the gums and then the bone. You leave it behind thrashing and gnawing into adulthood like some naked, ugly thing. And then, you remember nothing. You move on and continue moving on forever. You write a song or you go to work or you go for a walk or you shop for groceries and suddenly when you drop that box of cereal in the aisle, what was once a cloudy nothing is now horrifying and real again.
