i've recently found out that youtube is FULL of ai music. ˙◠˙ and i mean there's so much that real musicians are having to market themselves as "human-made" just to grab attention in the sea of ai music ( ;´ - `;) even for anti-ai viewers, simply skipping over videos with obviously ai thumbnails is no longer enough to avoid it.
some background: like a lot of people, i listened to a lot of random lofi playlists or albums on youtube that just pop up on my fyp. but after getting this: https://youtu.be/aimusicgetmadz youtube video in my recommended, i realized that most of the newer channels or playlists i'd been listening to were ai ; (◞‸◟)
the sheer amounts of views some of these channels have been getting are so high, it's insane. i'm talking about literally millions of views on some of these channels just for ai music Σ(ﾟ口ﾟ;)//
it's not just lofi. if you're on tiktok (or at least my side of tiktok), then you've probably seen that one video about the completely ai band on spotify. the velvet underground's songs have gotten a million plays on spotify, and everything from their music to their photos to their backstory is 100% ai ( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;) you can (and should !!) read more about it here: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/thevelvetundergroundai
this makes me scared for the future of music. if ai has gotten so advanced to the point where everything new might be ai (and there's no way to prove otherwise!) on spotify, youtube, etc., then where is the future of music going? (ᵕ•_•) if it's so good at blending in that spotify themselves didn't notice, then how will passive listeners?
considering the current administration, ai in music (and maybe in general) is unlikely to be regulated, and spotify hasn't taken any steps against the velvet underground either (•ࡇ• )
while i personally haven't found any ai artists in my spotify recommended (that i know of) i feel guilty listening to any of the premade playlists, or clicking on random youtube playlists. that being said, we can do stuff to prevent having to listen to ai !! i'm listening to random human-made playlists on spotify as a replacement, or picking albums from artists i already like.

OMG RAHHHH yes. tho i would like to clarify the ai band is the velvet sundown….. and the velvet underground is a very real band which this dumb ai band has taken from. its really sad to see the art of others being fed into a computer and spat out as a soulless plagiarism of real bands and work.

i totally agree with this!! it's crazy how many people are okay with ai infiltrating art spaces, as if emotion and soul and passion aren't the most important things in making art. i also feel iffy about the algorithmic recommendations of streaming platforms like spotify - it feels like ai is being incorporated into sooo many parts of the online experience. i think it's definitely better to get recommendations from real people!
ps: the ai generated band is actually called the velvet sundown!! the velvet underground is a real band from the 60s and 70s :-)

its crazy to see ai taking over something so human oriented. idk how to explain it but music is not music if its made by a robot, music is an art that unique to the artist and it shouldnt be mass produced by robots. insane to me that artists have to label their art/music as "human made"
