As someone who in the past year has been just exploring so many things in terms of genres and artists i wanna see if out here i can find fellow music nerds that share this passion. Do you guys collect anything? like records, cds, casette tapes, download, use streaming? Any favorite group or artist? Mine currently is Sonic Youth (I swear if i find fellow sonic youth fans here omg). Anyways just that, feel free to leave a comment anyways even you aint that much of a music nerd, just lemme know your music tastes since i like expanding my tastes n stuff xD

music is absolutely my life!! both as someone who likes playing/writing (i play a couple instruments and sing and tryyy to write) and just listening (i've been trying to get into as many bands as possible this year haha. fall out boy has been my all time favorite band for a couple years but i'm super into like all waves of emo music!!) i wanna try to collect records but i only have like 8 rn3 i have a nineth on the way though (and it's my favorite album of all time ^_^)
FOB is great, tbh reminds me of my preteen years so they defo have a special place in my heart, i love a whole bunch of bands from the same era so its lowkey a part of me haha, and i hope yr record arrives safely btw <3

There’s plenty of people who share the same passion. I mainly listen to rap but I enjoy punk, metal, soul, r&b, and indie music a lot. I collect CDs and Vinyl of albums that I can listen to front to back with no skips, it’s the only way I’d justify getting it tbh lol. I was born in ‘02 and my main avenue of getting music was either Best Buy or using a website called “myplaylist.com”, so anything that reminds me of that I’m interested in. I’m hoping I don’t become one of those people who aren’t up to date on new music though. I’m always looking for new sounds
Oh thats nice, and honestly i do think i feel about lps the same way, like if yr gonna get it then make sure ya enjoy all of the songs front to back or at least most of them. Yeah rap is also cool, personally i would say im a lot more into 90s rap but i still enjoy a few more recent songs n_n

I have a tiny bit of each, but mostly records of all. I mostly have 70s folk or rock music. But if I had the shelf I desired it'd be 80s and 70s realness.
favs : Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Led Zep, Prince, Luke Frees, Takako Mamiya, Cindy, Honeytree, NCT, Loona and the list goes further
Oh thats nice, yeah i also listen to loads of 70s stuff as well, and you listen to kpop too? i mean i used to quite a bit until 2020, now not really but i still enjoy most of the 3rd gen groups like nct and so :)

I usually burn all my music to cd's off youtube. My collection isn't too big, mainly cuz im lazy but I listen to a lot of artists mainly Eminem, Linkin Park, and Black Sabbath.
Oh thats still good, and you have good taste, i think we all just start anywhere and its not even necessary to collect, even just using streaming or burning songs and keepin it like that is still good :)

i download like hell. i guess not really, since i only have maybe 800 something songs on my laptop atleast, but i owned an mp3 player too to use as a contingency plan incase the internet was out/phones weren't allowed somewhere/ect.
i like a lot of obscure bands with a lot of obscure genres. mostly death/extreme metal and edm. you can find more on my prof ^_^.
Oh thats nice, yeah i also have recently started to go back to downloading music since i have an old phone i use as an ipod, tbh owning yr catalogue is such a nice feeling and also ya get to find unreleased tracks and stuff that normally wouldnt be on streaming n_n

my taste in music isnt the most varied (mostly metal), but when it comes to metal i very much do consider myself a nerd. Sybreed is one of my all time favorites, really unique industrial/cyber metal band. Ben's vocals are fantastic, his screams, soaring cleans and even the more nasal cleans he did on the last 2 albums. and Drop's riffing style is so good as well, he plays a lot of polyrythms, but it's somehow also still incredibly groovy. I even bought all of their albums
Oh thats nice tbh ive been wanting to get into metal for a while. I kinda was a few years ago but mostly older metal (the one dads enjoy) and then also a bit of A7x, asking alexandria, bmth (their early stuff).

all i do is listen to and hoard music via files and cd's lol i have a little over one hundred cd's right now and growing always. my most collected artist is cocteau twins, i have every cd they have produced. do you collect anything?
Oh cocteau twins is good, havent heard them as much as other artists but id say im a casual listener. As for what i collect ive been collecting records for over a year and a half approx, mostly bc ive found lots of cool record stores with hidden gems for good prices so it was just sorta easy for me to start collecting :)

If you like cocteau but lean towards a darker vibe, listen to their first album Garlands. I would say its totally different from everything else and is maybe my favorite one. I got lucky with an ebay auction to get their entire discography on cd but thrift stores and cd exchanges are the best place to make real scores for sure :)

I like to call myself a music nerd and I kinda am? but honestly I think I'm more of a poser :pensive: I would collect stuff but unfortunately there isn't anything I've gotten my hands on otherwise my room would be riddled with cds, vinyls and what not
Oh tbh theres no need to have a collection or anything, i think lots of us just start with this curiosity about music maybe the one the one that we like or just other genres and stuff so its alright no worries. I started out mostly listening to my parents cds and stuff online and then sort of got more into it with the years n_n
