like ive never been super religious, even when i was younger and my grandma forced me to go to church
i was never baptized either
once i witnessed a baptism at my old church but thats besides the point
but like after i developed/figured out that i have thanatophobia, i realized that religion is just a literal way for ppl to cope w death
like every/most religions have a heaven and hell type situation, but the thing is you'll never know if you went to heaven or hell. when you die, you die. your brain stops functioning, so it's just like what's the point?
also i just dont agree w how religion is tied to conservatism but thats totally off-topic

I see your reasoning, and respect it. However, I'll ask you some questions as someone who believes Christianity is true not because of heaven and h3ll, but because theres a genuine savior who loves and cares.
I'll assume you believe in the atheists version of death which is depressing, but is most peoples truths.
1. If we have no afterlife, then why does it matter if you do right or wrong in this world? Do you genuinely believe people like hit ler get a peaceful black screen after death?
2. What is the point of life? Why does it matter if someone were to end it if we're all gonna die anyways? What will our achievements amount to once everyone on this world is dead? Do you believe that this world will come to and end? Or do you believe it will go on forever?
3. If you answered yes on the 2nd question, then how was the world created? You'd probably say something along the lines of "Well, how was God created?" to answer things short, God is eternal, which signifies that he can't die (Not including the time he went down to earth as a human being since his power was limited). However, if we all just stopped taking care of the environment around us, it'd surely come to an end sooner or later.
Have ya ever wondered what the world would be like without humans? If we evolved from apes and gorillas(Which is racist) Then what was life like before humanity? Was it just rambuncious animals killing eachother? Also how would animals evolve into humans? Why don't they do it anymore?
Heres one you've probably heard but, if God isn't real, then where does our morality come from? If you haven't noticed, our current laws we have today are actually the 10 commandments. Do not steal, kill, etc. Which before the bible was written (somewhere in 1400 bc) Things like lying or stealing weren't seen as wrong, and if somehow we WERE evolved from animals, then why are we completely different species than animals?? Like we speak different languages, wear clothes, don't eat eachother or take a dump on the ground.
But yeah, I guess those are some of my questions to you as someone who doesn't really identify as religious, but people do call christians religious so yeah. I'll give your post a kudos, and feel free to reply :] hav a good day
1.) it matters what you do because of how it'll affect others and their decision making. the impacts you'll have on others will always be there, right or wrong. dont know what the point of bringing up hilter is, but i mean he shot himself in the head. it was most likely a rush of pain, then his brain and body shut off. but i dont know what you feel when you commit suicide bc most usually dont make it.
2.) the point of life is opinion based. theres no right or wrong answer to why we're here. this world WILL end, no matter what we do. it's because the sun will explode/absorb the earth once it gets big enough. plus, most life on earth will die because of global warming & other global issues unless they evolve to withstand it. and even if we try to go to mars (which theyre already doing), i dont think it'll be possible. mars has radiation & other things that our bodies cannot withstand. also you kind of answered the 2nd half of this question w the last sentence of the 3rd question lol
3.) i havent done enough research on theories of how planets & the orbit system were created, but there is a possibility that two asteroids collided and had enough power & resources to create the planets that we know. that is my own theory though so please take it w a grain of salt. also take the big bang theory into consideration!!
4.) i believe that evolution was only needed for survival. there are most likely animals that r still evolving! we could also be evolving too!! and it is basically still rambunctious animals still attacking each other, it's survival of the fittest & a drive to be the most dominant. also may i ask how is us evolving from apes racist? im just a bit confused on that
5.) i think our morality comes from our living statuses, society, and what we've been taught. the law could have things from the bible because in the 1800's our world was very religious & conservative. things such as lying, killing, and stealing have always been seen as bad. lets say you're a mother animal and a different animal tried to steal your baby. wouldnt you attack the perpetrator & defend your baby to the best of your abilities? even if you werent a mother animal and another animal tries stealing your food, wouldnt you attack the other animal and defend your food? we technically r animals, just evolved animals. when animals mated before they evolved, they mated w other animals that have traits that help w survival. humans did this, but now we dont really have any reason to evolve because we have weapons such as guns, knives, swords, etc., so we get w the ppl we find most attractive/take the most liking too. we evolved to do the things you listed because apes are a particularly smart group of species. we probably realized "hey, this climate is cold! let's make something to keep warm!", "we dont know how to communicate, let's make a language so we know wut we're trying to say!" and "hey, poop stinks, lets have a proper way to get rid of it!" also we dont eat eachother because we have no need to. most animals arent cannibals. plus there r diseases you can get from eating others (prion disease from the human brain)

Just because a worldview solves a problem (fear of death) does not make it false. Many appear to think that God's existence is too good to be true. I mean, he provides eternal beatitude in Heaven if you are good (in the case of most religions) or forgiven (in the case of Christianity). Who wouldn't think that's too good to be true? That's what I thought when I agnostic. God's existence is not proven through his convenience, however. God's existence is proven through logic, and supported by the fact that His existence is so convenient at answering questions about reality (questions relating to consciousness, suffering, etc. not in the God of the gaps way). Most who believe or formally believed in God were not raised such that they can come to know the existence of God rationally, furthering the idea that His existence is just a tool used to ease existential dread.

I don't disagree with you, but for me I turned back to God for different reasons, around a year ago, not because I am afraid of death at this point. I've been close to it a few times and the concept doesn't scare me. However, I don't want to insert an opinion where it doesn't belong. I can share my side more only if you are interested.
i'd love to hear why u turned back to god!
