It took me a while to realize this, but sometimes our emotions don't always align neatly with our behavior or even with how we think we feel. You may feel like you don't care, but your actions can say otherwise, because deep down you actually do care. Our emotional truth often shows up in our actions, but when someone points it out it can feel like a exaggeration, especially if you're intellectually disconnected from your real emotions in the moment.
I learned this through a situation I was in. I wanted revenge for something someone did, and at the time I just felt happy and giggly. But after a while, I realized through my actions that I actually did care. Even if I didn't consciously feel hurt at the time, my behavior revealed what I was feeling internally. It's a disconnection that you can't always process until you take the time to reflect on it. In the end, you wouldn't do something unless you felt something.
