THE BACKROOMS

“If you're not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the Backrooms, where it's nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in

God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you”

This was the creepypasta that started it all from many web series based on it like kain pixels backrooms to people talking about the feelings being in a room that doesn't feel right we wouldn't have it if it wasn't for the backrooms for better or worse. I'm not gonna talk about how it affected the world of online horror but talk about how i feel and my thoughts on the liminal space itself.

To start with the story says if you're not careful you'll no clip out of reality it implies that we live in a simulation or reality is more like a video game then we thought it's also never taken in account in discussions about the backrooms, maybe it's more interesting if it's not discussed but it's strange that it has an element of a computer simulation and never brought up ever again even in web series about it rarely discussed or explained closet was kain pixels but it's more in terms of a rip in reality rather than no clipping.

Now for the main attraction: the backrooms. It describes it being randomly segmented rooms that is 600 million square miles (in scale the earth is 197 million square miles long and Jupiter is 23.71 billion square miles long) large but it does have a set size. It also has a mono yellow wallpaper and moist carpet that stinks of mold and these details are the most interesting to me, have you ever been in a place that looked the same no matter where you go you get lost pretty easily and that's the main appeal to the backrooms of getting lost in a space that looks the same no matter where you go but one detail that people overlook hard is the moist carpet a admittedly strange detail after all isn't getting lost in a same looking room scary enough why add most carpet to it? To make the backrooms uncomfortable in a sense an anti room. From the stink of mold to the mono-yellow walls to moist carpet even with the max hum buzzing from the lights the backrooms is meant to be uncomfortable to be in, rooms for the most part are meant to be comfortable and more confined as the backrooms are uncomfortable and large. That is why the backrooms is scary to me, it is the twisted version of modern day comforts an ironic hell in a sense doomed to walk to find a way out on wet carpet that you can't lay on without feeling uncomfortable or sleep with the loud blinding lights, you will die in discomfort and that's horrifying.

A friend of mine talked about her feelings of the backrooms and took sum it up it's scary because this maze has no end and that too is pretty scary but it made me realize that the backrooms isn't scary for the same reason as for me or to you, the backrooms takes on many forms and meanings for so many people and that's why I'm not as harsh about different interpretations of the backrooms I disagree with many of them but that is ultimately their thoughts and opinions not mine so who cares. I don't care for monsters because for me if i can eat it i can survive off the meat and water from the carpet but that's in the original post so even i have a different idea of the backrooms.

The backrooms is practically a modern day artwork that has many interpretations and ideas about it that makes me love even more.
