why do I make music?

THE question of questions: Why?

I'm a musician. I've "always" been. At least since I was 14 or so years old. I never questioned it. Being a musician has just been a central part of my identity.

but why?

Mh... in the beginning I guess I wanted to be a rock star. ๐Ÿ˜… During my twenties, it sometimes felt like I was a rock star. ๐Ÿ˜ At least during those rare occasions, where one of my bands had managed to get a gig, where I got to spent some very precious 30-45 minutes on some small stage with anything between 2 and 200 people in the audience.
It's those 30minutes - that feel as if they last forever and at the same time pass in the blink of an eye - that matter.
Being on stage. The feedback from the audience.

There have often been longer periods where I didn't get that feeling. No gigs. No fresh motivation... but a lot of emptiness.
But then it happens. Out of sudden, somebody ask whether I'm interested in joining their band, and I get to play in front of a thousand people, on a gigantic festival stage.

even if it's just 30 minutes. it's the answer.

but again... why? ๐Ÿคจ Is it worth it?
