the difference is that the people who leave movie reviews on RT are normally sane people
RYM users however? absolutely fuckin crazy bastards.
they hate any genre that doesn't sound like radiohead and all artists with over 100,000 monthly listeners on spotify is overrated.
a lot of the people who leave reviews that are negative for albums are so focused on objectivity. "rock is SUPPOSED to sound like this" or "this isnt real rap because it doesn't sound like __"

something i see a lot within these negative reviews is this idea that every single album has to be insanely influential and super unique.
"i fail to see how people could think this album is good. it does nothing new and adds nothing to the genre"
have these people ever considered the fact that not everything has to be absolutely ground breaking all the time??
people on RYM also seem to despise the emo's...
even CLASSIC pop punk albums are still getting hate in the big 25'. i just saw a one star review on from under the cork tree by fall out boy. what the hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This is exactly why I fucking left a few months after joining in late 2023. The hivemindedness on there is real.
im still on there bc i like to keep track of when i started listening to certain bands + i like to share my musical opinions but the amount of pure HATRED for bands/artists is actually crazy

Me paso lo mismo cuando entre a esa página, la verdad es que me di cuenta rápido para donde tiraba esa página, y lo peor fue cuando busque a mis artistas favoritos, se que no les puede gustar a todo el mundo, pero la verdad es que a no ser por unos géneros y artistas que parecen que son los únicos que son buenos para la gente de ese sitio los demás está calificado como terrible, pero pensé que era un caso aislado por mis gustos, pero vi una reseña de un álbum que me gusta, y literal decía que no lo había escuchado completo solo un par de canciones pero que aún así no es tan bueno y le dio dos estrellas, vamos si no te gusta esta bien, pero juzgarlo por un par de canciones me parece mal
La gente de allí actúa como si cada canción tuviera que ser creada para que les guste. Creo que mucha gente simplemente no escucha música fuera de tres géneros.
