Japan trip

I'd like to say that the reason I say quite a bit that I'd be uncomfortable I because I am a Transgender man (Intersex) and I'm not sure how the citizens of Japan and Japan as a whole would treat me if anyone knew.

I've recently been talking to my mother about how I want to visit Japan someday. At least for a week because it interests me, of coarse. We were talking about flight cost, where I'd go and such as well as the fact that I'd be traveling alone. I thought about that and I'm not sure how I feel about that aspect. My dogs really loud in the car and I'd bet that he'd hate planes just as much so he'd have to stay with my parents or any other family I trust. From the point I'm at now, I don't have too many friends I'd pay to bring, ask, or otherwise but I think I good idea would be to have a friend who's local and can help me out on my first time there with etiquette and such. I'd hate to be rude. Hopefully in the future I have a friend that I trust can help me out with travelling. Even a friend that I really like and am comfortable traveling with would be cool. That's it. I just don't want to feel alone or unsafe in a place I'm not familiar with.

I was originally gonna call this "Travel buddy" and only talk about the friend/trusted companion aspect of it but now I wanna talk about more. Like why. The culture is, of coarse, a really big reason as well as the food but I think if I'm gonna go I should plan a bit more, like sights to see and general rules and season. Winters usually the worst for lots of thing but I don't mind. That sadly means that I won't be able to see the flowers bloom but I assume it's be more expensive around that time anyway and I don't mind missing them. My home has every type of biome/ecosystem so if I wanted to see those trees, I'd just drive over to see family. Most things I see recommend that I go see Tokyo, Hiroshima, Koto and Osaka. I do remember now that I could join a tour group which would be nice in but I also like to free roam sometimes.

When it comes to where I'll stay... The most common thing to do while traveling is bunking with other people (strangers) and staying at their homes for the time being but I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable doing that. I'd prefer either staying at a friend's or at a hotel of some kind.
