Celebrity Death and Workplace chatter

It really is strange when an icon of music passes on, it wasn't long ago I was talking to a co-worker who was complained at by someone that he couldn't escape Oasis and Black Sabbath for the life of him, and we both agreed
"of course people are going to be celebrating Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osborne might keel over any second"
but at the same time i don't really think it's going to happen, i still thought that he'll enjoy years to come. When the news breaks it's like, you half wonder if he felt it in the air, that he really wants to do something before his passing

There is always an uptick in sales in the shop surrounding death, Sinead O'Connor, Tina Turner,
even Liam Payne's passing reignited interest in his solo career along with an uptick in One Direction that we couldn't supply fast enough.
Every time i see Titanic i think about how it went proudly on sale around the Ocean Gate submarine explosion and i had to wonder if it was just part of the rotation or if it was a particular move.

They become like strange landmarks in your life, i wonder if people still say "you'll always remember where you were when you found out that Micheal Jackson died" i don't, and that's probably on me, but i certainly remember many many conversations about it. Weirdly my first connection to it is the one sparkly glove Gaia online tribute item that you would get for free out of the lucky dip. In the same breath, i found out that Alan Rickman had passed away via Gaia Online too.

It is quite odd to be mentally thrust back in a time where Ozzy shouting "SHAROOON!" was the then cultural reference for every personality to make. Thing is i'm just old enough that my first knowing exposure to Ozzy Osborne was not his music (knowingly at least) but it was my mother watching the Osbornes reality tv show religiously, glimpsing it as it was kind of in the same realm of south park that my mother really didn't want me to absorb with the unfettered swearing that was throughout that show. I do largely remember Sharon's breast cancer diagnosis and treatment from it though, i think for alot of people that idea of vulnrability in showing her treatment was quite effecting for a 2000's tv audiance, or it certainly had an effect on my mum. and also, of course how the show led to Kelly's music carrer before she went onto acting, wild to pull a thread and remember she dated Bert McCracken from the Used.

The famous have weird ways of making imprints on your life, a lot of them are way more weirdly personal than you think they are when you sit and think on it how you experienced them.

Rest in Peace Ozzy, you are a real legend
