More Than the Chorus: Is It Really Possible to Know Someone?
I am that popular song, but no one knows more than the chorus. Everyone says they try to get to know someone, and many even claim they already *do*. But I don’t believe that. Because how can a person who hasn’t even known themselves truly know someone else?
Knowing by Guesswork
People usually don’t make an effort to truly understand. They don’t ask questions. They don’t look at the details. They just interpret what they see—or sometimes see only what they want to see. And that becomes their version of “knowing.” But a person is like a world. You can’t know what’s inside just by looking at the door.
Once, there was someone in my life who thought they understood who I was. But they neither asked a question nor showed real curiosity. They only guessed. And I was too deep to fit inside a mere guess.
Whispers of the Butterflies
When that little boy, incapable of thinking deeply, whispers a few words to you... holds your waist and pulls you close... and those little, unexplainable butterflies start to flutter in your heart... Are we in love? Or are we just caught in habits? My butterflies should be *our* butterflies. Love becomes real only when those feelings are shared, not felt alone.
Dare to Truly Know
Maybe we’ll never fully know each other. But at least when we hear one line from someone, we can try to learn the rest. Memorizing just the chorus is not enough. We must dare to understand the whole song.
Because love, commitment, and meaning... they all hide within the whole.
