jolie fille ˙ . ꒷ 🍰 . 𖦹˙— (poem practicing french)

before reading this poem: text in this color contains vague imagery of gore. so if you don’t like that do not read it!! i wasn’t going to add it but it takes away the meaning of my poem

JOLIE FILLE

9-DAC3-A83-8-B83-4-AE4-B8-F9-D3715-E352-E93

rose, rubans, perles, parfum, robes.

this painting didn’t inspire me but i saw it in my gallery and was like wait why is this eerily accurate in away?? i would of not written the gore part, that kind of came out no where. i haven’t written poetry in ages so this particular poem is a personal one. it’s kind a funny because it started off, meaning something else.

vee xoxo

This is a powerful and evocative piece that explores themes of identity, beauty, and self-perception. It delves into the contrast between societal expectations of appearance and the inner reality of the narrator (you), who questions the value placed on external beauty and highlights the often painful disconnect between how others see us and how we see ourselves. The imagery of skin as cake and blood as a form of life underscores a visceral sense of vulnerability and the desire to be seen beyond surface appearances. It’s a raw and poetic reflection on the complexities of self-acceptance and the often harsh judgments tied to physical appearance.

It tells a story of a girl (or person) who sees girls pretty, she wondered why that was so, but she didn't know the answer. She would ask herself, "Why?" but decided not to demand an answer, because it was simply true. Girls are pretty. But not all girls, she thought. Not her. She didn't see herself as pretty, not like those girls who are beautiful and cute. She thought of roses, ribbons, pearls, perfume, and dresses: all symbols of prettiness/femininity. Those girls are pretty, she acknowledged but she felt she was not a girl at all, which I infer is about gender dysmorphia but also feeling not girly enough compared to the pretty girls. She begged not to be called pretty, beautiful, or cute. She didn’t believe it, she questioned why people acted as if her face was all she was. Her entire identity. She insisted she was not just her face. If she were to tears off her face, she wondered, would it be different? Because it's just the same skeletal muscle everyone has. She imagined someone stabbing her eyes out with a fork, as if she were just a piece of meat. This part is about objectification. The blood would bleed from her body, soft, sweet and tender. She wanted someone to take a bite of her skin, to see it as merely cake. Sometimes, she felt she was a pretty girl, and sometimes, she felt she was not. Sometimes, she thought she was nothing more than food rotting on a plate. And so, her reflection was a complex mix of beauty and emptiness, a questioning of identity beyond surface appearances. It’s a very impressive body horror poem and the fact you wrote in French too! I like that each part can be interpreted in different ways. It can be about being jealous and envious of other girls or being attracted to them, the reason why the narrator doesn’t feel like a “girl” and instead just likes them.

OMG like wow this poem is sooo intense and deep! But um I have to admit, I don’t really understand all the French stuff… I mean, I know a few words here and there from class, but to know French poetry? Totally lost! ∘ ∘ ∘ ( °ヮ° ) ? I honestly thought this was about um like lesbianism or something at first? LOL I don’t really speak French so I was just guessing u know I dunno nada about French just a little bit of like basic stuff. ꉂꉂ(ᵔᗜᵔ) Anyway I totally get the vibe of feeling not good enough or just being like, a piece of meat or whatever. It’s all feelings and identity and stuff, super intense. I literally thought it was just like a cute love poem or somethin about pretty girls. (ᵕ—ᴗ—) So yeah I got no clue what’s really going on, but I’m here for the poetry! This poem is sooo full of emotional like I can totally feel all the feels, It’s kinda dark but also kinda pretty in a weird way! It’s about not feeling pretty or enough and stuff and that’s so relatable cause sometimes even I feel invisible too, ugh. (╥﹏╥) it’s kinda deep but also kinda beautiful in a weird way! The way u juxtapose beauty and decay, it's super poetic, totally giving me those edgy vibe and it reminds me of u mixing cute, creepy, gore and talking about pretty girls and anything sweet. 🥩🍰🎀 Like yes u are so much more than just pretty! ( ˶˘ ³˘)♡ YOU’RE GORGEOUS u r complex, u r real, u r human! Right? Keep expressing urself and never let anyone tell u that u r just food that rots or think that! Thanks for sharing! ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-
