Frozen 2; How is it good and bad at the same time?

After writing this analysis I realize this was just a bad movie.

Overall thoughts

Honestly, i find it just meh. I like the music (as always.) I like the visuals, and the plot is okay at best.

There was 7+ years between the first and the second movie and yet somehow you still rushed through the movie? That’s ridiculous. I don’t understand why they can’t finalize the movie before they start promoting.

take itsv --> atsv for example. I'm glad it took years to make the next part. Like NO I’m not going to be upset if beyond the spiderverse takes all the up until my graduation year… OF UNDERGRAD. like yes!! take all the time you need, don’t half ass my movie!

I don’t understand a lot of the decisions they made and somehow, while trying to introduce and secure the lore, they made MORE plot holes. The movie was totally white savior vibes. And the plot was way more obvious than the first movie.

The character tropes in this movie were interesting. it's definitely a hit or miss for me.

The plot

I liked that we got closure about their parents and where her powers came from. But Elsa being a fifth element is the dumbest thing ever. It would have made sense if she possessed all of the elemental powers, or found other people that had powers of an elements subcategories. But being THE fifth element is bs.

I did like the idea that the elements had to push out farandole to protect them from what had to be done but nothing was done?? if in the end there was no consequences regardless she didn’t really do anything. They didn’t even set the truth free, nobody but them know what their grandfather did. there was no consequences. That was STUPID. If the point was to just break the dam so it wouldn’t hurt their lands anymore, then fine whatever. Even then what was the reason to have arandele be on the same fyord? Stakes? WHAT. ABOUT. THE. CONSEQUENCES? Arandele should have gotten destroyed

That little subplot of things never changing was absolutely nothing. Like it did nothing to the plot. What did love never changing have to do with anything in the movie afterwords? Olaf wanting to be mature? It all gets unrecognized by the time we actually get some lore. "I think this has really changed us all" no it didn't NOTHING CHANGED!! THERE WAS NO GROWTH ARHBFHGB

The water having memory was just another reason to have TWO FAKEOUT DEATHS THIS TIME! Are you kidding me Disney? Are you genuinely not ashamed? It’s a great really great concept though,. I liked how it was consistent in its use especially with atohallan being glaciers of ice and water telling stories of the past because of memories. they cooked.

To the main point; it’s a white savior movie. And I’m embarrassed to say it took me way too long to realize that. A group of white people go to oppressed indigenous lands to free them from a fate that the white ancestors brought upon them. When they realized Anna and Elsa’s mom was northuldran they start freaking singing after literally just preaching they trust nobody but nature. Bruh. Then once everyone is free elsa wants to stay and rule their land??? Be so forreal.

Character development

Elsa

Idk she just seems crazy and uncanny in fzn2 like she seems more ditzy, reckless and unpredictable. And like less authoritative than before. I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing. Because I understand that her personality from the first movie came from her fear and anxiety. But like would she act constantly high out of her mind after she’s healed? I think it would make her more stubborn or more protective of her family.

Anna

The best thing about this movie was Anna’s character development. It makes so much sense. And yet somehow people still like to complain about her.

Yes it makes sense for her to be annoyingly over protective of her sister. She was locked out of her life for years. Elsa has risked her life and left her time and time again. would that not make someone scared off losing someone they care about?

When she thought elsa was dead, the grief was very well portrayed. I still wish they did a little better with it though, especially with her talking about it afterwards and not giving it much thought. It kind of became an afterthought right after? Like obviously she had a job to finish but dang you can be a little sadder?

Kristoff

When I catch the person who f*cked up my boy, oh they’re not going to see the end of it.

You CANNOT tell me they sat in a room together and decided to make his entire character for the entire movie to be him trying to propose? No way. Why the HELL would you continue trying after going to an enchanted forest after talking about dying?

He is a sarcastic smartass who’s a little awkward, I think he get the hint after the first few times. The proposal at the en fee was so awkward and meaningless. If I was Anna I’d say no just because why they hell would you think it was okay to propose to me here?

And don’t get me started on the proposal. Did you guys know Anna was supposed to propose to kristoff instead? yeah, exactly. MINDBLOWING I know. Doesn’t that fit their dynamic so much better?? I will never not be pissed every time I listen to 'get this right'. Like I understand the storyboard was more like a music video and not frozen vibes but if they had fixed the scene and kept the song in the movie, IT STILL WOULD HAVE MADE SENSE AT THE END!!! a lot of their cut out songs would have made so much sense, even with the end plot line. like 'home' would have explained the decision of Anna becoming queen, while Anna lives with other people with powers (yes I fully believe that would have been a better plot line.)

Ykw the whole movie sucks because 'get this right' wasnt in the movie. End of discussion, bye

I haven't watch Frozen 2, but I believe you. Anytime a company tries to make a 2nd movie, it's just crap.
