I recently got into the world of Japanese flip phones thanks to a good friend of mine. I ended up using their KYF39 for a good few months while I searched for my own keitai. I finally settled on the KYF31 from Kyocera and just received it in the past week. I want to do a mini review going over the phone itself and compatibility with regards to bands and such.

Features:
To begin with, this is one of the only modern Kyocera flip phones to have the Touch Cruiser feature. This was the main feature that I was looking for when picking my keitai. It works almost exactly as the trackpad on a laptop. I love using apps such as Webtoons and Google Maps with it.
The other addition that I love over the KYF39 is the function keys. I love being able to have a few apps on quick access that I can open from anywhere!
I love the built-in Lismo music player that comes with most Kyocera flip phones. To my knowledge, the sharp branded phones don't have one and it really makes the experience just that much better being able to make use of the phones softkeys!
The other thing that I wish was included was a pedometer but that can be fixed rather easily by installing one of the many other step counting apps out there and using the accelerometer.

Compatibility:
Being in New Zealand, we are pretty lucky with the bands our cell providers support. I know that 2Degrees supports bands 1, 3, 8 and 28. This means most newer Kyocera phones will work here using bands 1 and 3. My KYF31 is a bit older and only supports band 1.
Despite this, cell service seems to be stable and calls are clear. I haven't had any issues using the phone here (Take this with a grain of salt as I live in Auckland and your mileage may vary if you live in a less populated area or are with a different cell provider).

Overall, this is a really solid flip phone and they can be found rather cheaply (~25 - 50 NZD). The only downside I can really see is that the device runs android 5 which is really outdated at this point. All the apps I want to use still work on it however so I'm pretty satisfied.
Please let me know if you have any other questions about the device and I'll do my best to answer them. I really hope someone finds this post useful in the future!
