This isn't an important announcement or anything but it feels like saying something is what makes it official so I'm gonna say why I chose to use a less common social media.
I don't just want to be a passive consumer, this isn't an ethical or existential stance, I just like what I like and I want to be able to curate my internet to be that way. To me this means seeking out less optimized and less algorithmic social media, I think being bombarded with random content is fun but not a good way to spend big chunks of time; so I'm going to bombard myself with specific content.

Let me talk about why I'm on here

It really isn't a good way to spend time. It may be entertaining, but usually that's all it is. There's this one psychiatrist I watch every blue moon now who calls entertainment anything that's easy to pay attention to. The point of all these algorithms is to find what can retain our attention for the longest, doesn't matter what it is as long as it serves that aim.
Tangentially related, but we can only desire what percieve, and all the stuff we see derived from the algo could end up manifesting into desires for some people that they wouldn't have otherwise. It's so important to be intentional, there's more control in that compared to being subject of the whims of whatever's presented in front of us. I'm gonna try curating my online spaces as well. I want my attention to be absorbed in things that truly interest me
