summer check-in !!

hello guys! hihihi! 

i'm gonna try something new today, and do a little check-in, since i haven't been all too active lately on here ;-; i promise i haven't forgotten this site! just been busy :P

but anyways, here's sort of an end-of-summer check in for me to look back on, and also probably copy into my journal when i get the motivation to.

honestly, there's multiple that are tied! i remember during late june, being very drained intellectually, and very satisfied because of it. i'd spent most of my days writing, and every night i would feel so empty-headed, and then proud because it was the most i'd ever been writing on a consistent basis. also, celebrating my friend's birthday! i was very nervous about her party, but it turned out to be pretty nice! i was so happy about it.

not necessarily places (i havent gotten out much because of the heat :/ ) but i've really grown an appreciation for sodoku & the wolf among us! i dont see many people talking about either, so i guess they count?

usually i have a tendency to repeat the same meals over and over again until i make it wrong and it ruins it, but lately ive actually been pretty adventuous! also: watermelon. watermeloooon! i made this damn good watermelon, peach, and cucumber salad and it made me feel like the food critic scene in ratatouille. other than that, my main safe food has been the el clásico of a bagel, ham, and cheese sandwich

to be quite honest i've been falling out of love with aesthetics and beauty lately. not completely, since i still really love the looks of some aesthetics (whimsical academia & twee especially), but i'm trying to stop pressuring myself to conform to being pretty / aesthetically appealing all the time. it feels so inauthentic to me lately it actually feels inhuman, in a sense? 

jo march, miles morales, and technoblade! those aren't exactly a seasonal rotation tho, haha. i think this summer specifically, janine teagues in abbott elementary has actually been pretty inspirational to me, too! i really love her optimism and drive, and ive been realizing that i think my dream job is teaching english / humanities

MY FRIEND'S BIRTHDAY GIFT!! i made her the impressionist fleabag painting, and she looooved it! she also got matching seashell necklace & keychain, and im hoping she liked those too. other than that, i'm fairly proud of a video essay i made about fleabag & bunny by mona awad.

physically, i'm not doing all that bad, considering it's summer. i work out 1-2x each week, and i go on daily walks, and the dopamine from being more active is helping me be more productive. im also trying to put in clearer boundaries with myself & my bad habits, and it's really only ended well for me this far.

leon kennedy 🫡 also, resident evil in general. but on a more introspective level, that the best thing i can do for myself is constantly remind myself of what my biggest goals / core values are, and act accordingly (aka, remember that i appreciate community, and not avoid every social gathering i can). being brave is good! i can be brave! also, that the hopecore ppl are right, and that love has a habit of returning. i've come back to so many things i thought i hated but it turns out i love.

enjoy the season! ENJOY THE CUTE CLOTHES AND THE COLD! be social enough to have actual plans on halloween, bc last year i was by myself and it was depressing haha. also, stick to being productive and continue giving myself structure. i hope to be writing more as well, since im gonna be back in school.

this is how we lose the time war <333 and the devil's revolver series!! i promise i will eventually get to making a blog post about all of my summer books, because i've read a hell of a lot of good ones!

trying new things, going back to old ones, writing video essays and fanfictions, my minecraft forever world, cooking for my family, journaling, and loving my best friend! she's amazing, and her birthday's in the middle of summer, so it's her season in my head.

this was really fun to do! i'm mainly looking forward to looking back on this in a couple months or a year from now, and i want to do this on a regular basis! here's my pinterest board for the season, too!
