i've been discovering some really good music lately after quite a long time of just listening to all of my old favourite songs on repeat so i thought i'd share my current recommendations because i love to yap about music !!!
florence road - "caterpillar"
my current profile music!! one of my uni friends recommended this song and she's always spot-on with her recommendations omg. its so beautiful, both lyrically and production-wise. my current listen-on-repeat song. i will literally just open my profile so i can listen to the song.
grace enger - "love will find me", "the alchemist" and "20"
the same uni friend who introduced me to "caterpillar" introduced me to "love will find me" and i was so immediately obsessed that i went down a grace enger rabbithole. i'm just recommending my top picks but i also think her newest album, "the alchemist", is also worth a listen.
jake minch - "fingers and clothes"
there is something so addicting about this song which is ironic because its literally a song about addiction. its so gorgeous. its part of jake minch's new album "george" which i am still yet to listen to but i think i should if the rest of the album is like this song.
jensen mcrae - "let me be wrong" and "i can change him"
i have been vaguely aware of jensen mcrae for a little while now but never taken the time to actually listen to her music. thank god i finally did. she's so lily evans coded, no joke, i think i put all the songs from her new album in my lily evans playlist.
sydney rose - "we hug now"
this song was trending on tiktok for a while but that made me nervous to check it out because often only the trending part of tiktok songs is actually good. thank god this song is not like that. i feel like the full context of the song actually makes the trending outro bit better. this song makes me so nostalgic about my high school bestfriend that i actually get a bit nauseous.
conan gray - "vodka cranberry"
i've been hearing this song on tiktok a lot but after listening to it, i feel like the wrong part of it is trending. i prefer the verse and pre-choruses over the chorus. also was pleasantly surprised to hear him say my birthday in the first pre-chorus, was very exciting for me. but anyway, yeah, love the song. so sad, so classic conan gray

oh and also "the longest goodbye" by ROLE MODEL (feat. Laufey) !!! i'm lowkey becoming a ROLE MODEL fan but also laufey really elevates this song so much

okay so I got around to listening to them all!! and I am gonna let you know what I think of all of them :P
which is terrible bc she's so freaking good!!!
caterpillar was instantly added to my playlist! it absolutely is something I'll play in the background on a slow day to just take it all in and relax to!
I also checked out the songs you mentioned from grace enger and omg the chorus of The Alchemist is so yummy!
AND I so see why you love fingers and clothes!! I really liked that one
jensen mcrae was also good, I don't think her music is for me BUT I can recognise they're good stuff! same with the Sydney Rose song too
I've been so scared to listen to Conan Gray for like no reason other than that heather song had been overplayed so much that I just felt like I probably wouldn't like his stuff, BUT vodka cranberry was so a vibe too!
and okay the longest goodbye was absolutely my favourite out of all of those! I have so got to listen to more laufey, I've only really listened to lover girl

yeah i get what you mean about conan gray. i'm not a huge fan of his but i got into his music through some older songs of his and sort of went from there. i'm definitely guilty of sometimes being put off by a song being too overplayed.
and yeah, i need to listen to more laufey too omg. her voice is STUNNING and i've had multiple people recommend her but i just haven't gotten around to it.

it's so hard to not be put off when a song is overplayed!! especially if it's like still pretty popular
and haha so very real, I have a long list of songs and music artists I tell myself I'll check out but just... have not. and of course! I love finding new music so I was excited to check out these as they weren't familiar to me :]
