Desde ese día de 2022 que decidí preguntarme ¿Qué escuchan los japoneses? descubrí a Namie Amuro.

Al principio no me logró llamar la atención ya que escuchaba sus primeros álbumes como "SWEET 19 BLUES" o "Concentration 20".

Unos meses la olvidé y me interesé más por la música de Ayumi Hamasaki o Hikaru Utada hasta que me apareció la canción que cambió mi percepción de Namie.

"WANT ME, WANT ME" es la primera canción que recuerdo escuchar de Namie sin parar, después siguió "Baby don't cry" y "How to be a girl"

Cuando me sumergí en su discografía era feliz, ya que jamás estaba tan obsesionado con una cantante.

Y ese día llegó, el 15/11; Toda la discografía de Namie fue retirada en todos los servicios de streaming existentes (Incluso en Japón)

Hasta el día de hoy su música no está disponible en ninguna parte, sólo queda recurrir a comprar su discografía en físico o la piratería.

Creo que una pequeña parte la conoce ya que tiene su lugar en la escena Mainstream.

Since that day in 2022 when I decided to ask myself, ‘What do Japanese people listen to?’, I discovered Namie Amuro.

At first, she didn’t really catch my attention, as I was listening to her early albums like SWEET 19 BLUES and Concentration 20.

I forgot about her for a few months and became more interested in the music of Ayumi Hamasaki and Hikaru Utada, until the song that changed my perception of Namie popped up.

'WANT ME, WANT ME' was the first song I remember listening to nonstop. Then came 'Baby don't cry' and 'How to be a girl'.

When I dove into her discography, I was truly happy, because I had never been this obsessed with a singer before.

And then the day came. 15/11; Namie’s entire discography was removed from all existing streaming platforms (even in Japan).

To this day, her music is no longer available anywhere. The only options left are to buy her physical discography or resort to piracy.

I believe a small portion of people still know her, since she holds her place in the mainstream scene.
