☆彡 HOT TAKE: Social Media Was Better in the 2000s ヽ( ̄~ ̄ )ノ

ok soooo i’ve been thinking about this for a while now... social media was WAY better in the 2000s. idc if it sounds like nostalgia talk i stand by it (¬_¬)

what we had back then:

✿ you could literally make ur profile YOURS glitter gifs, rainbow cursors, falling stars?? iconic.
✿ top 8 drama. petty? yes. entertaining? absolutely.
✿ autoplay music that set the vibes (sorry if u had slow internet lol)
✿ bulletins, surveys, weird little quizzes ~ we were all oversharing and loving it
✿ no influencers, no ads, just chaos & friendship <3

now??
everything feels fake. everyone’s either tryna go viral or sell u something.
and don’t even get me STARTED on the algorithm (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
like i miss just logging in to see what weird stuff my friends posted.
no pressure, no “engagement,” just vibes!! that's why i love spacehey tbh. this place feels like a lil time machine ✧ no feed controlling what i see. no endless scrolling. just ppl being weird and cool again feels like we’re slowly bringing the fun back (´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡

so... do u agree??

am i just being dramatic lol
or do u also think 2000s internet >> everything else?

what do u miss most about the old days??
leave a comment!! let’s get nostalgic together ~ (✿◠‿◠)

i agree with some of this but there were 100% influencers back then. they just dont look the same as they do now. there was still commercialized internet trends and it was very toxic, some people even say it's more toxic than it is rn. people like britney spears were the "influencers", everyone wanted everything they had, talked like them, dressed like them, based their profiles and personalities around them, etc etc. i do think myspace wouldve been super fun to have as a kid tho. i enjoy spacehey a lot and "myspace music" is one of my fav subgenres

part of it is probably just nostalgia, but I 100% agree. The internet just used to be more creative in my opinion. The blogs, vlogs, and colorful profiles. I miss all of that Yk? \_(ツ)_/

Just letting you know, this post has poor visibility and it's quite hard to read due to the low contrast between text and background.

idk what to tell you man but the internet has always been fake & commercialized it's just adapted over times, half the stuff you see about "old" internet now is 99% of the time nostalgia bait lmfao
