One of my favorite genres is visual novels. I feel like it's one of the most misunderstood genres of games. A really good visual novel can really suck you in though! Unfortunately, the most popular visual novels in English speaking circles tend to be deconstructive ones. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but i feel like a lot of people don't really venture further into visual novels because the deconstructive elements more so feed into people's confirmation biases rather than make them more interested in the genre.
That being said, I recently finished You And Me And Her. It's a deconstructive horror visual novel that I think does several extremely clever things. If you haven't played it yourself I highly recommend you do so without hearing my thoughts about it lol, it's best to go in blind.

Anyways, I read both true endings, as well
as the cheater ending lol. Now some people may be like "I don't wanna
do that!!! The game said that that would invalidate their feelings!!!"
But frankly speaking part of my interpretation of the game is about
distinguishing reality from fiction, and I'll hold your hand when I say
this: Miyuki and Aoi do not HAVE feelings to invalidate. They are not
real. lol.
Jokes
aside though I feel like Aoi and Miyuki's true endings complete each
other. The game may not want you to experience both together, but when you do
you get the full picture and I think that's how it should be played. I
did think Aoi's ending was more interesting, though. In her ending, you
tell her that you'll meet her again because she IS every heroine in
every visual novel you play, meaning the next vn you play will have a
part of Aoi in the characters. My interpretation of this is that Aoi, the avatar of
"god," is god's own character they are puppeting as they play the game.
Just like how we puppet Shinichi. It's as though two beings from
different dimensions are communicating with each other and they can only
do this through fiction. I don't know if I'll think of Aoi every time I
play a VN, but I think every once in a while I'll remember her.

So, who did I like more? Aoi or Miyuki? NEITHER LOL. The VN itself was really fascinating and I really enjoyed the writing but the characters of Aoi and Miyuki themselves REALLY are not my up of tea. I mean I am asexual so that may be part of it lol but still. I understand why Miyuki snapped, I really really do, but yanderes really don't do it for me (also before she snapped she was a ROYAL bitch). As for Aoi, IDK hypersexual characters ALSO really don't do it for me. So honestly I personally wouldn't have chosen either of them lamo. I know the cheater ending's line "I wasn't that invested in either character anyways" was supposed to make me feel bad for what I did, but in reality that REALLY is how I felt.
That's not to say the game or characters
weren't interesting, it's just neither personally appealed to me. I did
really enjoy reading and playing the game though. It was probably one of
the most difficult visual novels I've ever played I'll say that much
lmao. I'm glad I read it. It was a solid 8/10.
