Before y'all come at me with 'but it's on both sides!' Maybe that's true, but I'm not talking about THEM. I'm talking about the RIGHT. I'm talking about Conservatives. It doesn't matter if 'THEY' do it. If conservatives are supposed to be above that kind of stuff then it can't be excused no matter who it comes from. If conservative Christians are supposed to be anchors of truth over lies, uphold the rule of law, justice-seeking, God-fearing, and moral, something broke and needs to be fixed. THEY aren't idolizing a human being as if he is the second coming. THEY didn't mount an insurrection or build a gallows and chant for the lynching of elected officials, THEY didn't murder a police officer who was protecting the heart of our nation. Would they have if the shoe was on the other foot? I don't know. But the reality is, THEY didn't.
If you're feeling pissed off at me right now or attacked and offended, and all you've got to come back at me with is to name call me: 'snowflake', 'libtard', 'brainwashed by the liberal media', yadda yadda ...I invite you to sit for 5 minutes with those feelings. Check to make sure none of those arrows stick before wailing on me. It isn't easy. I've had to do it. And whenever I do this in whatever area I am feeling these feelings in, when I take an honest look at the arrows that stick and submit those to God to help me with, I am usually gently, compassionately humbled. I usually see a bigger picture.
And to Michael's concerns about the Bible eventually being 'canceled'...What about it makes it vulnerable to that? The message of hope for all that is embedded in it? The love of
God that is spoken of within its pages? Probably not. Most people and societies wouldn't cancel that...So what would it be? The actual book? Or the theologies derived from it that promote the very things that led us to where we are today?
Pride comes before the fall....Let us check that we aren't bringing down destruction on ourselves by thinking we are the sole bearers of the knowledge of God and that 'we' deserve to have the upper hand in the realm of Christianity and politics, and that all other ways of life or faith should be under our boot.

Excuse me for barging in like this, but I can't help but notice you're the kind of person I love above all else, someone capable of criticizing "their own".
I'm a lefty kinda guy (think someone who adores Bill Hicks to bits), but that's exactly what I miss in the left, too. And with similar reasoning, like, aren't we supposed to fight oppression? How did we go from that to oppressing supposed oppressors? And it's always the small fish that get it, too.. war criminals roam free but at least we're now analyzing post histories of random people to see if they're good enough or problematic, so we feel like we're doing something, without realizing what we're becoming.
Though I have to say personally I'm way more caustic in my criticism, and forget about compassion, patience and generosity too often. But that's also why I dig this blog post, and the attitude it comes from, so much. Thanks for making my day, and keep on keeping on!
