tips to learn a new language

i'm a native english speaker and i've always wanted to be bilingual. growing up, i've tried teaching myself another language but it's so difficult finding a penpal or a language teacher and sometimes self-motivation can be pretty low. on top of that, only being immersed by english means that i only ever have english around me. i would love to learn french and russian but i'm not sure how to master the grammar and self teaching means i don't have a teacher to correct my pronunciation.

i think french and russian are beautiful languages and i would love to connect with others who speak it or are learning how.

if anyone has any tips or can help me speak it, my socials are on my profile and you can also instant message me i appreciate any help! <3

For learning russian i can recommend watching rus films with subtitles, and maybe without them later so you'd remember words and their meaning better :3 translated books are also good for that, especially might help improving grammar (and russian grammar can be really hard to learn). And big tip, don't be afraid to speak on it even if ur russian speech might sound bad, talking is also another way to level you language knowledge and words pronunciation ^^

these are great tips! since i'm a beginner, i'm gonna master the cyrillic alphabet first and then just go from there but i will keep these tips in mind.

ugh yes. i was sort of learning french through duolingo on and off for a couple years but it was really slow and i felt like i wasn't really being taught the important stuff. i don't use it anymore since their company is AI-riddled trash now, so i've just given up :-(. i want to practice with a native speaker but i'm sooo scared of making mistakes & i know so little /3. please let me know if you get any good advice !!!! i'm in desperate need too

aweee i totally get you, it can be really daunting to start. but i HIGHLY recommend the app language transfer if you want to start learning french. you can download each episode and listen without Wi-Fi and there's also a playlist on youtube.
