album review: "trust us we lie" by a heartwell ending

i've never actually listened to this album in full even though it has one of my fav songs of all time on it. i've only heard like 3 tracks and i think now at 2:42 am when i can't sleep is a perfect time to listen to it!

"from heart and soul to pen and paper" - 4.2/5

that intro 🤤 god i love whiny ass vocals. this is such a unique song. a heartwell ending has a great and very cool sound. i like the bridge a lot. the heavy ass guitar in the back is so beautiful i LOVE that deep guitar sound 

"give up to give in" - 4.7/5 

love the parts where it's just him singing and the guitar. im a huge sucker for beat changes and acapella switches. THE BRIDGE AGAIN ugh yes. the bridge is always my fav parts of songs. the crowd vocals are also so nice i love those also. this song has so many unique features i love. god, i love this album so much. 

"trust us, we lie" - 3.2/5 

for some reason i love songs about pure selfishness and not caring about anything because thats the opposite of how i am. this song is nice. compared to the other two it's not as ... outstanding. the electronic parts are cool, i love those. it always brings me back to "hot fuss" by the killers. also why is he lowk moaning in this song 💔 can he stop pls 

"your my dream catcher" - 4.1/5 

the bad grammar pisses me off. anyways i love when they draaaaaagggg out the syllables in words. i find it so satisfying. guess which part is my fav. it starts with b and ends with ridge. lol. i like the screaming parts i love screamo yesyesyes . a very fun track. again with this air of selfishness, knowing you're just playing with someone but not stopping.

"the secret 'between the sheets'" - 100/5 

I LOVE THIS SONG KYAHHHHHHHHHH im BUST holy goon. in love with this song. the verses, the chorus, the voice, the vibe, ugh yes. i like the switch up from being selfish to angry desperateness. the lyrics are also just wonderful. "love it or leave it, i kept this secret to myself" + "kissing you was a contradiction, feeling confined and so much worse" are so heavy with the vocals. 

"memory" - 3.4/5 

wow. what a unique track. i love overlapping vocals so much. the vocal effects and this kinda ethereal electronic feeling is super cool. 

"one more song for your myspace page" - 3.9/5 

love love love the melody. god i wish these guys made more music i need 4 more albums like this one. another angry desperation kinda vibe. you want them back but begging for it is just too much. seeing this live would probably cure me of my ailments 

"if looks could kill" - 10000/5 

OH YES KING 🙏 the laugh at the start oh yes im gooning......... "im sorry for bleeding on your porch" / "i try to keep my heart inside of my chest". can you guys tell i love angry desperation? just so good. just asking the question, is this really what had to happen? is this what you wanted? the scream part love love love!!!!! and the heavy guitar again. do you guys ever get kinda turned on by guitar sounds?? is this tmi. im sorry i love this song too much. heh.,..,.,.,. wonderful track i love this song 

"there's two 'r's' in sorry but one in wh*re" - 4.3/5 

the intro and transition into the first verse is beautiful. the outro vocals , in love. im in love with this album... sigh. not much to say i js like this one

"feelings between the lines" - 5/5 

OH MY GOD??? what is this GLORIOUS melody??? the guitar sounds oh my lordddddddddddddddd. 🤤 i have a weird thing for when you can hear the singer breathe in i just like it so much for some reason. this is so emotional in a different way than the rest of the album. it's more... raw and needy. the second chorus just is so wonderful. the whiny "i hope you come back" is just lowk so me. 

"all along" - 4.5/5 

once again, the guitar is not disappointing. it feels good to just get up and leave sometimes, even if you end up missing them. love the melody once again. i like how the last part starts with a quiet voice and then gets heavier and more chaotic as it goes on. 

one of my fav albums of all time, safe to say. i know this album has like so much freakin sexism in it but i excuse it by making it about men so its fine guys. also it was 2006 emo so what're ya gonna do really? anyways, in love with this album. "if looks could kill" is such a great song. a heartwell ending is so unique in their sound and the lead singer just has some sick vocals man. seeing this album live would cure my ailments. sorry if someone was looking for the deep emotional shit i normally put out on these but when i get excited i can't do it i just freak out sorry
