Why is mens clothing so atrociously ugly & cheap?

Rambling off this from a previous blog entry, but I can't wrap my head around how ass men's clothing is for the past 10-15 years. This is something that has bothered me so much since I was a tween in the 2010s. Why did men's clothing over the past 10 years been so ugly and cheap? Like why is it all the same 4 colors, same cuts, same styles over and over with no variation? Like dawg I don't want to wear corny H&M polyblend t-shirt with skinny paper-thin joggers and neon orange Nike shoes.

I'm gonna talk about just all of it because I hate it so much and as a guy who cares about his clothes and wearing nice stuff it pisses me off so much whenever I walk through the mall and the alarmingly small selection of colors and styles available amongst every brand. I was rlly young then but I remember a time when mens clothing and boy clothes used to cool as fuck with cool graphic tees, nice denim stuff, and funky accessories. Just looking up images of guys in the 2000s is just so much better than whatever the fuck men are wearing today. Its so much more colorful and funky. They actually wore clothes not just athletic stuff(2000s athletic clothes were cunt though), the men wore beautiful fitted button ups in all colors and patterns, they all wore loose-fit or bootcut denim that was low-rise showing off the CK boxers underneath, boots were the norm or sneakers, leather jackets and huge sunglasses with long chunky jewelry. Even the more basic looking fits were still so much better than today with it being way more colorful and the stuff actually looking nice even if it was a t shirt and jeans. It was somewhere around 2012/2013 I noticed the switch to really cheap looking stuff being more prominent and every brand following suit. It was so weird and I never understood why. Well cause its cheaper to do faux leather with simpler cuts than more striking detailed stuff as a result of capitalism and corporate greed.

Now all men wear now is just black n white exclusively cause idk colors = gay or something in this conservative era. If they are somewhat invested in clothing and dressing it always trend focused and is bought only at Zara and H&M. Doesn't help that these new age fashion bros are all super judgmental and pretentious. They're all in a competition to see how "niche" their outfits are and how much more they know about 'insert buzzword' ; Japanese, archive, single-stitch, vintage, avant-garde, y2k, selvedge denim. Always obsessed with what the items value and image is rather then wearing it cause you like it. Also this is like exclusively men for the most part, most fashion girlies are not like this which is even sadder cause damn we men can't have anything. Sorry I'm not buying from your rick owens knock off Instagram brand that sells faux leather jackets and 90 dollar basic tees.

One aspect of men's fashion I wish was still prominent that I miss from the 2000s is sexy underwear. I swear all the picture I search up of guys in the 2000s they all show off their underwear waist bands because the jeans are low-rise and so they always have cool designs. What do you mean men used to wear low-rise flower printed Calvin Klein underwear? If you try to search up on like eBay or something of old underwear styles from the 2000s you'll just see the fun it really had. I can't bare to comprehend I could walk into Calvin Klein and pay like 20-40 bucks for glitter low-rise briefs for men. Not just CK, but so many men's brands made lots of cute designs however a lot of them are lost to time and weren't archived so only some designs made it too the internet as I don't know if there a community of people archiving underwear styles on the internet(tbh I don't want to know).
I thrift so I also have a couple pairs of vintage ones
. REMINDER: ALL THE ONES I BUY ARE DEADSTOCK!! I had a pair of vintage 2000s H&M ones that were low-rise and had green hibiscus print on them. SOOOO CUTE AND I LOVED THEM, but currently don't know where they are so really sad I might've lost them because idk where I would find another one. Literally hate modern undergarments cause they all so ugly and cheap and aren't fun at all. Its hard to find any that are cotton nowadays ugh.

I mourn the way men's clothes to look and the further you go back into the 90s,80s and 70s they get even nicer, but it really just stopped at the 2010s. Everything got so cheap and men's fashion got reduced to just t shirts and sweatpants. Its nice to see some guys try to bring it back and wear cool men's stuff from back then again. I've also been trying to dress up my male friends (the few I have) in old 2000s stuff. I will not the be the only guy wearing bootcut, colorful button ups and shield sunglasses.
