Art vs Artist

Hey guys!! I have a question I've been ruminating on for a while now because of recent news that came out about my favorite artist. What is your opinion of separating the art from the artist? Is it viable for every artist or is it a case by case scenario or is it not even possible in todays society?? Let me know, I would love to chat!!!
