collection of all the poems i made in 2023! only one poem is left out as i've decided to post it as its own blog because it's one of my favorite ones. just a note, most of the titles of the poems (except for poem #4 and #6) here are not just titles, but are meant to blend with the poem as the first line. i guess i have a tendency to do that haha
unfortunately this collection is very short... but i'm hoping i will write way more poems this year!
#1 poem:
acid
i shove it down my throat
it boils when the music’s blasting
i let it ablaze like fire
for it to descend;
it's a waterfall,
and i feel it stain my face
#2 poem:
take me far away
for gravity to sweep me off my feet
let me soar to space
so the city lights appear like stars
they’ll glitter in my eyes while i look down
and you’d beam at my glimmer
like you did before we left the town
so we could claim
the universe as ours
#3 poem (for school assignment):
catch me, danger
i don’t want to fall to anguish
memories keep holding me back
but you guide me a step forward
so i skip the stages of grief,
go straight ahead to acceptance,
dance with me to celebrate this new revolution
even when we both know i rely on my delusions
this can’t be self-destructive if i’m numb to this.
this can’t be self-destructive if you complete me.
used to your darkness
vision blurry when i’m far from you
i can’t, don’t want to, adjust to the sunlight
i don’t deserve it— its warmth
when i know i’ll get burnt
and i know it’ll be my fault for basking
my purpose now, is seeking your validation
for the price of losing my dignity
#4 poem (untitled poem):
my heart is heavy with tears
throat clogged with screams
buried down with a swallow
clawing at me from the depths
vibrating within, never heard
eyes ahead with empty eyes
frog from the river
merry along now
feel what you’ve been missing,
the warmth on your skin;
given to you from blue skies
which hovers over you with no regret
since you were chained underwater
#6 poem
us
our veins connect, blood merge
let it twist, and its width bind
the cells of our flesh mingle
a vision not one sees, but two feel
a new soul has been birthed
and it is us.
