(NOTE: This is my opinion, and I have no intent to spread hate to ANYONE, and I'm open to discussion in the comments, don't be afraid to leave any comments!)
With the small rise and return of the Scene subculture and the revival of the 2000s styles and music, especially with the rawring 20s boosting and reviving many subcultures that have died out, I believe I've been seeing an issue rise more and more in the subculture that keeps popping up that I think we should address.
WHERE DO YOU GET SCENE CLOTHES NOWADAYS?
Well, the most common response I see when this question is most frequently asked is stuff like, for Example:
Hot topic, thrifting, or EBAY.
Which, yes, have been big staples in the Scene/emo subcultures, especially going to the Mall and heading to Hot Topic and Spencer's or going thrifting for some gems, but I've been seeing some problems over time happen, and I would like to list a few.
1. Someone can't find anything 'good' in their local thrift shop.
2. Someone can't afford mall brands like Hot Topic, Spencer's. (etc)
3. They can't afford to get anything second-hand.
Which I believe if a new Scene kid can't find any solution to this problem, I believe they go down to the very final choice to solve their problem of having no Scene wardrobe...
Fast fashion!
Which we do NOT want for our subculture! We, as Scene kids, should help one another and try to avoid fast fashion like (Shein and Amazon.) and give tips and tricks to anyone new to the subculture, which leads to the topic I want to talk about here today to you all.
I believe if the Scene community were to pay more attention to the fact that you QUITE LITERALLY DON'T NEED GEMS AND YOU SHOULDN'T BE BUYING THAT RANDOM 400 SOSO HAPPY HOODIE OFF EBAY (you don't need all of that to be scene! to me you just need the hair and you could wear an average fit!)! Yes, it may have been a huge staple back then, but you shouldn't spend all your money on just that! It will and MAY take a while to achieve your Scene wardrobe, but it all comes down to dedication and time, and patience! But you may be wondering then, "How am I going to get clothes if I can't get them second-hand? If I'm not able to afford that 400-dollar vintage soso happy hoodie?' I think a thing a lot of us are unaware of is that we all may think that 'Scene' clothes aren't being made anymore since the golden age of Scene and emo back in the 2000s and 2010s, which I've come to tell you all, NO! There are actually many new Scene clothing brands, and I'm here today to tell you all about some, and I think everyone should check them out!
1.https://www.shopjessicalouise.com/
This first one leads to the store owned by Jessica Louise, an icon in the Myspace days! If you're looking for any clothes as a Scene queen, you should totally check out her tank tops, they're cute! (Fun fact: Some of her pieces have been worn by Audrey Kitching and Avril Lavigne!)
New Breed is an Og scene brand that was sold in malls back throughout the 2000s. Currently, they are much smaller but are still selling their classic designs! Some of their designs are really cute and cartoon-like like so if you like that, check it out!
3. https://www.getpwnedposer.com/
This is a very new brand! and a very underrated one, I think you should all check out too! their primarily selling tees that have very cute designs that are even fitted, and even a portion of their profits are donated to Palestine!
4. https://www.bucklebunnyshop.com/
Now this brand is probably a huge good one if you're looking for accessories. They have incredible necklaces that remind me of the first wave of Scene, too! They even have belt buckles and cool and cute camis! Their tank tops are incredibly cute looking too, if you're looking for any to add to your Scene wardrobe!.
5.https://www.bunnygutzapparel.com/
If you're a fan of cupcake cult and their old merch and designs, I believe Bunny Gut's is for you! They have cool and colorful designs that remind me of all the graphic tees that were sold by bands back in the 2000s and 2010s. Their mission is to bring back the metalcore monster merch styles of the 2000s!
6.https://www.candycarnage.net/
This is also a newer brand new to the scene!, and they have very neon colors if you're a huge fan! They remind me heavily of Cupcake cult, too, if you're a fan of a bit more bloody/gory designs, one of the designs I personally love of them is the psycho duck one! as a huge Pokémon fan :3!
(And that, folks, is what I have for you today! If I find any new ones or if you would like me to add any, I would be glad to add more brands to this list. I may come back later in the day to add some more! and don't be afraid to discuss, I would like to talk to anyone!)
