So basically, I freaking love horror movies of almost any kind — but I can't play horror games. I tried playing Silent Hill on my PS1 when I was a kid. As soon as the scene started where you're supposed to die after being attacked by those creepy children, I turned the console off, grabbed the disc, scribbled “DAMNED GAME. DO NOT PLAY” on it, drew a giant X across it, and hurled it into the overgrown lot right next to my house like it was cursed... pretty stupid lame lmao but that was a clear indicator that I could never play them by myself. I did, however, play some titles along with friends. That's the only possible way.
Anyone here feels the same? probably not

No, wait, hold up. I love watching SH gameplays, and other gameplays, including horror. But I’d probably never try it myself. Back then, when FNAF was considered horror, I tried the first one. No thanks. Hello Neighbor was also considered horror - rather psychological if anything, I think that’s the most matching genre - I played it and it was heartbreaking. But it doesn’t have those classic elements, which many do, no jumpscares, no “let’s try to find the track in fog and in an asylum” and such
But classics? Oh no thanks! Only watching gameplays.
So you totally get it lol. I tried Slendytubbies in 2012… it was a real nightmare — and I was playing with someone else. I dunno if it’s the immersion factor, but watching horror movies or people playing horror games is a total blast for me. At least we’re not alone!

Yeah! I just considered myself that kind of person who can’t get into horror. A video is more predictable, like it’s mostly edited and you knowing that u can stop it / skip seconds, is kinda better than a real time experience. I remember watching fnaf 3 gameplays and i checked further and skipped the jumpscares, because I couldn’t stand it, knowing who’s in the rabbit suit
