Mood Beams

I couldn't for the life of my remember the name of these things, but I finally found them again. Mood Beams, circa 2006 or so. I had one, but I remember being a little disappointed that they weren't really as interactive as they were advertised to be. I think I either had the shy one or the silly one, neither of which are in this pic.

While I was looking for Mood Beams, I found something else with a similar concept from around the same time.

Room Tech Beingz. I guess they were alarm clocks that kind of doubled as lamps. To be honest, I sort of wish I had gotten one of these instead of a Mood Beams at the time because these seem like they'd have more tactile feedback than whatever sensor stuff Mood Beams was doing. The designs are a little less appealing to me, though.

To be honest, I remember being disappointed with a lot of interactive toys on the basis of them not really being that interactive. I think I was sort of hoping back then for what Moxie Robot or Miko are now, but obviously that wasn't going to happen in 2006. Nowadays, I would give anything for the simplicity of the electronic toys I grew up with.
