WARNING and also saying the stuff i mention that are a bit of a key word: mentions of Lolita, ped0philia more about that subject here, feminism, dogs, children, puberty, andrew tate, bonnie blue, fleabag, shaving, other musicians mentioned like Lana Del Rey.
I know i'm late to speak on this but just listen.
So today I watched a video about that new Sabrina Carpenter album cover from this youtuber Galatea & Asis, formerly knows as The Authentic Observer (Video essay about Sabrina here). I used to agree with my best friend that she doesn't deserve the hate and blah blah blah, but honestly that opinion never felt right and after watching this video I finally know what my opinion is and gosh.
This is what I sent to that same friend I spoke of:
''Bro I'm watching a video essay about the whole Sabrina carpenter album cover and I definitely agree with her opinions (the lady who made the video essay). Because the album cover isn't making the actual misogynists uncomfortable, Andrew Tate literally made a sort of similar photo with Bonnie Blue, that only fans woman. And all the women are uncomfortable with the image, and I agree because it definitely makes me a bit uncomfortable. Cause what do people call dogs? Bitches, what do men call women? Bitches, what was the point of her album cover? A man's best friend= a dog.''
Ironically I'm listening to that song Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge, and honestly now I want to choke myself and listen to Kiki Rockwell and maybe not Lana Del Rey. Or Radiohead to give into the wanting to choke myself part. I don't want to be like Fleabag and call myself a bad feminist so i'm gonna try my best to be the best I can be at bringing the point of feminism in the first place.
Disliking Sabrina's choice of album cover (and lolita references but i'll get to that later) doesn't make you a mysoginist or a bad feminist, feminism is literally about equality so don't just defend her because she's a girl and usually shows herself as for the girls (and the gays i suppose), treat her equally and say what she did wrong because otherwise you're basically being the bad feminist or simply not thinking correctly on this. I'm probably saying this wrong but I'm tired and I just hope you guys understand where i'm getting at, or simply watch the youtube video I mentioned earlier. (Video essay about Sabrina here, again)
Also I saw a clip mentioning what Sabrina's sometimes says during her concerts, I remember sort of vaguely about her saying ''I'll take you down somewhere that has no hair'', so of course she meant her lady bits (I don't know everything I can say on here so i'm trying to sugar coat it a bit and it simply sounds ridiculous). The whole mentioning it doesn't bother me, the no hair thing does. Back to the lolita photoshoot, a child, being sexualized. And now back to the concert mention, not many know this but the reason why people often shave that part of their body is to be youthful and pleasing to men or secretly pdf-files. (I'm not saying everyone does it, you can have your own reasons but a lot of women have this reason maybe without even realising it). So when she says it, it definitely rubs me the wrong way. That and then including the lolita photoshoot (and maybe references on her vinyl), it just feels really wrong.

The minute I saw the album cover, it threw me off. It gives "women should submit to men" energy in my opinion. Like girl, stand tf up. Then, the "approved by God" comment when releasing a different version, seems as though she doesn't truly understand why the original was weird and uncomfortable.
this!
