Hey all, it's Saturday, July 12th.
Sorry for the long inactivity, I've been posting lots on my other socials. For anyone interested in that power outage thing, the internet in my house went back online on the 23rd. Also, I'm not sure if I said this prior, but I got new shoes at a thrift store; some Vans Sk8 Hi's that fit (so a 7 and a half, the little sheet with the size chart was too faded to determine so I wore it before buying), and also in the same haul I bought a Zenith VCR that works; that was on the 16th, so almost a month ago.
Also, one more update, and it's pretty serious. Recently, Fandom has announced its Internationalization process, which uses AI-assisted translation so that people in one language can understand information about a topic written in another (for an example, a German-speaking person is able to read an article about a list of Super Smash Brothers crossovers written in English from this experiment). After the process was announced, many people (537 as of the time of writing this) have expressed their opinions about this process, most with overwhelmingly negative feedback. Even I have expressed my opinion about it, see entry #183. The many reasons people dislike this process so much varies from environmental concerns, unreliable, misinformative and/or possibly incorrect translations, and due to artificial intelligence having a negative impact on social media in general. The worst part is Fandom knows about the feedback, but is completely ignoring it and launching the experiment anyways in a matter of corporate greed, and people are PISSED, see the comments on the update post. If this experiment goes through and is forced to be used across all wikis, I will leave Fandom entirely in response. Fandom is actively ruining its reputation by the day and I can tell in my four years of being on the site that it has gotten worse since the August 2021 rebrand. As a matter of fact, I just recently found out on a Reddit post that they have made comments inaccessible to unregistered users; it's like they want to suppress the many people expressing their concerns. The AI process is literally going against their main purpose where they put the people first. It is only a matter of time before Fandom goes down under.
For an alternate wiki to migrate to, I have two options. Firstly, the Dream Fiction Wiki on Miraheze, however that wiki is pretty much dead and needs major revitalization. If I don't want to go there, I can go with the Constructed Worlds Wiki (simply shortened to Conworlds) instead, which seems like the better option. However, I fear I may not fit in perfectly as my main interests are television and retail, contradictory to the rest of the wiki, specifically politics and the structural components of a country, which I barely understand. If I eventually give up and leave Conworlds, I have no other choice but to abandon my projects.
Sorry for that brief vent, I just had to get it out. See ya next time.
