the "naughty nun" archetype should cease to exist

I think it should be obvious to everyone that sexualizing a group of people who explicitly do not consent to that is bad, but apparently a lot of people think that its completely fine when done to certain groups. this archetype shouldnt exist in the first place actually.

no, Im not talking about just the online stuff, personally i dont give a single shit about someones OC. what I mean is its everywhere. movies, books, games, it even reflects on how people in real life (woah) think and talk about nuns, my sister being a prime example of that.

imagine the level of disrespect it takes to have someone lust over and create a bastardised version of women who, by their own choice, decided to distance themselves from that. also can I just point out that those people will flip out when someone sexualizes a hijabi gal but then turn around and do the exact same to nuns, saying how "sexy" they are? but a rant about how a lot of people are overly protective over Islam but are very willing to tear Christianity down even when undeserved is a topic for another discussion.

also some people justify their actions by saying that its "revenge", or something. revenge for what? what did those nuns do to you that you just HAVE to turn them into sex objects? its not really their fault for your parents forcing you to go to church on sundays, neither it is their responsibility to bear your sins. not to mention that revenge porn is abhorrent in its nature.

i think the whole "naughty nun" bullshit stems from a bigger problem of not taking no as a no and just lacking respect for anyone, and the lack of respect for people just seems to get worse with time. everyone just seems to be a lot more scummy, being hedonistic and just generally a bad person seems to be the trend right now, and i do not like the direction where we are heading. no, I dont have an idea for a solution for that problem, im not a genius. but what should be fixed is the overall mentality of the majority, which is a lot harder that just saying it, so i wont tap into that.

in short, "sexy nuns" shouldnt exist.

Everyone is a feminist until it comes to nuns.

I don't understand how can someone who claims to be progressive and agaisnt the sexualization think it's okay to deshumanize nuns just because they're part of a religion that "opresses women".

Like wouldn't you be doing the same by forcing them to be something they clearly don't want to be? It's fucked up!

These guys be talking about how women are always objectified but then sexualize nuns or excuse sexualizing them with "oh but a lot of them are bad"

THEY'RE A JOKE

It's disgusting to sexualise any religious figure. I see a lot more acceptance of it when it comes to priests and nuns, it's so stupid and hypocritical.

As a Christian, yes, this trope should NOT exist at all and I want this trope to die <3

i thought it was interesting you placing the hijab comparison. Honestly, i think it's due to how history has upon those two religions.
Christianity is something extremely large. Media in any form treat it like that. It was once something that used to oppress people (taking in consideration the very start of it) and also mundane by most "christians"... so they see themselves as something "okay" to be sexualized. (not claiming that i agree, quite the opposite. just trying to make sense why this is done).
While for Islam, i can't speak much. In my country and the people i live around, i never encountered someone of this religion to express fully my thoughts... But, i do want to add how social media has an impact of it, after all, it spread not only that religion, but also some sense of awareness and respect while introducing.

but idk, that's just my perspective
