Storytime: Best Friend schools obnoxious nerd

So I wanted to share this story, because it goes to show how awesome my friend Elly is.

For context, Elly is a girl I grew up with in my town. We've known eachother since we were babies, joined at the hip, that sort of thing. She's like the best, but she's always been kind of sensitive. I was kind of a shithead and used to prank her over that because I was an asshole.

But anyways, moving on, so it was the school spelling bee finals, and the pressure was ON. Elly was one of the few kids in class who had made it into the finals (I said meesen was the plural for moose). She was really starting to feel the heat, I could tell.

Enter the new kid in class. I still have him as a classmate to this day, so I'm not gonna out his real name to people, so let's just call him Mandark. So this Mandark kid starts getting real nasty in the breaks between rounds, saying all this stuff. He says that he bets her parents don't even love her, that she probably only wants to win because she craves attention. All typical smack talk. But you can tell it was really starting to get to her.

But she still pulls through, and soon it's down to her and Mandark. It's the final round, no turning back. It's going well at first, Elly is keeping up with Mandark and they're neck and neck.

But then the judge announces the final word, and everything changes.

This word is really personal and upsetting to Elly due to an incident I'm not gonna get into. It's all too personal for this blog. The point is that the mood goes from hot to cold in a second. Elly looks like she's about to absolutely lose it and Mandark suddenly lights up, probably the only one who does (probably because he didn't know the context behind it at the time). I'm watching all this from the crowd and I'm like "This is it. She's gonna lose and we'll never hear the end of it from Mandark."

AND THEN ELLY, BADASS THAT SHE IS, SUDDENLY SPITS OUT THE ANSWER WITH 0 FUCKS GIVEN. MANDARK HAS NO TIME TO EVEN TRY TO ANSWER.

The crowd ERUPTED in cheers. After Noelle's mom chewed out the judges for the massive oversight, we all went and got pizza together. And that is why my friend Elly is a certified badass

I did kind of feel bad for Mandark after it though. I saw him with his parents afterwards and his dad was just laying into him. Poor kid looked like he was about to cry.
