my take on necrophilia (yes, you read that right)

Thick Skeleton Skull

buckle up for a long rant about necrophila (not finished yet but I figured why not post it early?)

before I start I would like to specify that im not a necrophile and I don't support anyone who claims to be one

what is necrophilia? if you tried to ask this simple question most people would just say that it is a fetish about corpses and realistically look at you a tad disgusted. but deep down human beings find necrophilia as something way worst, not just a fetish. it being connected to death is one of the main reasons: it doesn't matter were you think your soul goes after you die, but your corpse? we know it doesn't magically evaporate but rots one way or another, and we also know that a corpse can't defend itself from anything or anyone. and the mere thought that a stranger could do something so disgusting to your body after you pass.. well, not a lot of people would be thrilled at the idea, and although im pretty sure autonecrophiles exist, the number is way lower than necrophiles. you don't think anyone would want something like this? read "necrophilia variations" and then we'll talk (jk it's best if you don't read it, that shit made ME disgusted at 3 am).
and yet, despite morals, there have always been people who look at a lifeless body and see not just death, but potential: potential for pleasure, entertainment, even romance, and the number may be way higher that what you'd expect.
historically, necrophilia has always lurked in the background of civilization. the egyptians took special care to delay the embalming of beautiful women, just in case the embalmers got any "ideas". fast forward a couple thousand years, and you’ll find victorian doctors writing about it in journals, pretending to be shocked while describing it with a suspicious accuracyeven in recent years there are many examples, such as dennis nilsen. he didn't just kill and rape his victims, he installed a whole connection (his words, not mine) with them. sometimes he even made their corpses sit on the sofa and watch tv with him. for him, it wasn't just about the sexual act, but the feeling of being physically close to someone whose flesh does not pulse when you grab them, or someone who doesn't flitch, breath harder or even look at you.

and that's the thing, necrophilia isn't always frantic grave-digging under moonlight or cartoonish morgue invasions. sometimes it's a fantasy so out of control that it bypasses consent entirely. because, well, what’s more compliant than a corpse? and once you start thinking about it like that, it becomes less about the sex and more about control, loneliness, or obsession dialed up to eleven. not only romantic loneliness (the "I miss you" kind) but the kind where you’d rather speak to someone who can't talk back.

in the end, necrophilia isn’t just a fetish, but perhaps a mirror, a very cracked one, but a mirror nonetheless. it reflects the lengths people will go to avoid rejection or cling to something (or someone) that no longer exist. we call it monstrous (and it really is) but it's also human in the worst possible way.

okay maybe I should get some sleep (also the category being "life" is crazy but it was the closest spacehey offered me so understand me)

Necrophilia, have sex with corpses, because they know that the corpses will not fight or rebel, so they feel they have power and can do anything with the corpses. So yes, you are right. For me, a necrophiliac is someone who is cowardly when faced with rejection in the real world. For me, most of them are people who have often been rejected in love. Because they were frustrated, they decided to have sex with the corpse, because they knew the corpse could never reject them. Necrophilia is mostly a coward and a loser in the world of love, because they prefer to face corpses rather than living people.

One element I think you didn't take into account as to why necrophilia is so repugnant is that corpses have some amount of sacredness to them. To have one's way with a corpse is not only an obvious violation of consent the person can no longer even give, but also "soils" them in a fundamental way. To commit an act like that is to strip the deceased of dignity that everyone no matter the way they died is (meant to be) given.

at first I didn't want the focus to be "why necrophilia is bad", but if I aim to make an accurate descripition I had to include that somehow. I'll prob continue to write on the plane (without a computer, pray for my eyes)
