I HATE NONCHALANCE!!!!!!

i don't know who came up with this idea that being nonchalant and uncaring was the goal, the desired state, but i can safely say that i hate them! who the actual fuck wants to have that little joy and whimsy?!

i can somewhat understand the appeal, i mean, who doesn't want to appear cool and mysterious? but it reaches a point where it surpasses an enigmatic aura, and it verges into depressing territory. picture this: you just won the olymipcs but "nah, bro, gotta stay nonchalant, gotta stay mysterious" (insert unbothered chad face here). it's just sad. it's one thing to be shy or anxious, but this is intentional and sucks the joy out of things.

personally, i'm not very nonchalant. i care, i'm whimsical, and i'm going to show it. (if you've got whimsy and you know it, clap your hands *clap clap*). i could not give less of a shit if people don't view me as "cool" or whatever, but perhaps this is because i've never been viewed as cool, i've been bullied my whole school career and have always been "that emo gay tranny" (imaginative insults, i know *eye roll*) so i've just become accustomed to not caring about being mysterious or nonchalant. maybe this ties into the concept of the "tiktok personality", where tiktok almost becomes an echo chamber of "inside jokes" (trends) which then create community within those jokes and references. this eventually leads to a lack of personality and personal identity, which leads to insecurity, which leads into the tiktokified concept of nonchalance and other such things (e.g. incels, lana del rey core old money girlies).

i think, that in order to eradicate the "nonchalance epidemic", as i'm now going to call it, we need to free up and create spaces for people to freely express themselves without the fear of a tiktok comment section judging them.

basically, we need to dispose of cringe culture. let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and - come on, who's with me?

i believe that cringe culture is defienetely a root cause for the uncaring agenda in my generation. if people were more accepting and less brainrotted by the overconsumption of constant short formed media, we would have a better grasp on reality and more familiar with actual people having actual personalities instead of the aesthetic infused influencers we see day after day with perfectly branded personalities.

perhaps this also loosely links into dyer's star theory (in which celebrities and a brand and a commodity). i'm not quite sure how to articulate how it links, but i'm 100% sure that there is definitely a link, even if it is a loose one at best.

does anyone else have any other thoughts?
